Chris Benoit’s text messages

More details are coming about the Chris Benoit murder-suicide. He apparently sent five text messages early Sunday morning between 3:53 AM and 3:58 AM to WWE co-workers before committing suicide, even sending some from his dead wife’s cell phone. According to the WWE, the five text messages were:

(sent 6/24 at 3:53 a.m.) – Chris Benoit’s cell phone

“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215″

(sent 6/24 at 3:53 a.m.) – Chris Benoit’s cell phone
“The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open”

(sent 6/24 at 3:54 a.m.) – Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.
Fayetteville Georgia. 30215″

(sent 6/24 at 3:55 a.m.) – Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.
Fayetteville Georgia. 30215″

(sent 6/24 at 3:58 a.m.) – Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215″

The WWE is also dismissing any suggestions of ‘roid rage’ since Benoit was deliberate with the murders and left Bibles at the feet of his wife and son after killing them. A rep for the WWE says:

“The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife’s feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.”

This is just way too creepy to start off the morning. If you could see me, you’d see I was juggling kittens to try and alleviate the tension. You know, because kittens are cute. And super grisly murder is not.

Horrible. God bless all their souls.

You don’t think steroids might at the very least lead to mental disorders that would lead to an act such as this?

He was well liked and highly respected by those who watched wrestling, and those who worked with him.

Turns out he was just another screwed up individual.

I think many of us that watched you would like to know why, Chris. Guess we’ll never know.

the CHILDREN, my god, the CHILDRENNNNNNNN!

well, i think that adults represent actualized potential and manifested investment, which is much more valuable than potential as such, which, strictly speaking, isn’t anything yet.

so it’s much worse to kill adults.

The WWE reaction to the steroids link is just pathetic. Every other sport out there goes to great pains to distance their players from steroids. WWE apparently celebrates their wrestlers’ use of steroids. How ridiculous.

As for the deaths not being caused by rage, whose to say he didn’t strangle his wife in a fit of rage, realize what he did, kill the son, lay out the Bibles (to somehow seek foregiveness, I guess) and then kill himself. All that had to be caused by a fit of rage was the initial act. Everything else could have easily followed from that.

Please understand that this has nothing to do with forgiveness, either from God or from humans. This person snapped, went crazy, insane, loco…get it? He didn’t do it because he was mean or evil. Grow up!

I love how the WWE seems to think they’re experts on rage or deciperhing crime scenes they haven’t even seen –
“The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.”

    Ohhh well in that case…

    idiots!

and just because WWE thinks there was deliberate thought doesn’t mean there wasn’t rage. perhaps not “roid rage” but really, they’re just splitting hairs at this point. rage isn’t always uncontrollable.

well, jessica, i doubt you have children. you’re 19 and from windsor, new york, which, if i recall, isn’t exactly a hic*eh-ehm* republican hotspot.

think about the people you love. have you ever had a boyfriend or best friend whose little habits didn’t make your flesh crawl? if so, love’s little palpitations come concomittantly with hellfire in the veins, no?

I’d say that it was more likely a momentary act of remorse to place the Bibles near the victims. Because Benoit was so close to the people he killed, a minor (if perverted) act of empathy seems reasonable. People who kill their family members in the manner that Benoit did sometimes do things that they think will “make it better” — dressing up a baby after it’s been killed, bathing a wife after she’s been murdered. In Benoit’s case, I believe it’s possible that the Bibles were placed there for the purpose of redeeming his wife and child’s souls. Sort of like a “last rites.”
