And the results of Brittany Murphy’s toxicology report have just been released. TMZ reports:
Brittany Murphy’s cause of death has been determined — an accidental death caused by “community acquired pneumonia,” iron deficiency anemia, and multiple drug intoxication.
The L.A. County Coroner concludes on the subject of “How injury occurred” — “Drug intake.”
Even more damning for Simon Monjack, it’s now being reported Brittany’s death was entirely preventable:
Sources say the primary causes of Murphy’s death were pneumonia and severe anemia. L.A. County Coroner officials believe Brittany’s condition was “treatable” but no one took her to the hospital in time.
As for the multiple drugs found in her system, we’re told they were both prescription, including medicine for cramps, and over-the-counter medications, including cough syrup. Our sources say the drugs “pushed her over the line” but the underlying problems were the pneumonia and anemia.
Gee, I wonder why nobody took her to the hospital? It couldn’t have been because she had a stomach full of illegally obtained prescription drugs that kept her married to her husband. That just doesn’t make sense…. Wait, I got it. There must have been penguins there! THOSE FLIPPERY BASTARDS!
But, no, seriously. Simon Monjack’s probably fleeing the country right now thus alleviating the burrito shortage afflicting southern California. So it looks like everything worked out after all.
The End.

Ditto to #34.
I had pretty much these exact same conditions once. I had walking pneumonia and I had really bad periods, basically hemorrhaging. But I was still going to class (this was in college). One morning I coughed so hard that I tore muscle tissue around my ribcage. I thought it was appendicitis so I finally went to the school nurse, who discovered I had pneumonia and was extremely anemic. Up until that morning, though, I was still walking around and going through life. I didn’t think I was that sick. If I’d mixed in some painkillers for the cramps and some cough medicine, I probably could’ve died too. I was NOT anemic, I didn’t have some boyfriend or spouse harassing me, I just thought I was having a bad cold and periods like that were pretty normal for me… I didn’t realize how severe they were. It is totally possible for an otherwise happy person to end up that way. Also- years later my now-spouse had pneumonia too… he was going to work and everything but felt just a little run down. Because we happened to know a nurse, he asked her opinion and after listening to his lungs she sent him to the hospital- where he was immediately put on an IV and kept under close watch for 3 days. He never would have gone to an emergency room- wouldn’t have even made a doctor’s appointment- if we hadn’t happened to have been friends with a nurse he would have been MUCH worse off.
Fish, I still love you, but you’ve gotta get off the blame-her-husband, call-her-a-drug-addict thing. This is completely, totally plausible- I know from experience. And since when does Brittany being out of Simon’s league make him a total asshole? Normally I agree with your assessments of celebrity lives, and I’m not some huge Brittany Murphy fan, but I’m not getting where the hate for her comes from. It’s not like she was some crazy bitch fame whore like Tila/Kim Kardashian/Heidi Montag/the other Brittany/Paris/Lindsey/etc.
It’s clear she was sick and decided to self medicate. people do it all the time and they also refuse to go to the hospital.
RIP Britt.
