Woody Allen Jokes Hurt Blake Lively’s Feelings, You Guys

“I just don’t see why she couldn’t bring her daughter. You put her on a plane, have a nice meal together, and then you’re at Cannes. Who doesn’t love Cannes? Eh, maybe the other one’ll pop out.”

During last night’s opening of the Cannes Film Festival, a French comedian told a rape joke right to Woody Allen’s face, which was more of a jab at Roman Polanski, but I’ll take it. Via The Hollywood Reporter:

Comedian Laurent Lafitte told the joke to the elite opening-night crowd, saying: “You’ve shot so many of your films here in Europe and yet in the U.S. you haven’t even been convicted of rape.” The joke prompted an awkward silence and a few gasps.

While Woody Allen wasn’t offended by the joke – Because he knows what he did? Just throwing that out there. – Blake Lively wasn’t having it. Which I’m sure has nothing to do with being called out by Ronan Farrow’s column that she’s been too tired to read if you try and ask her about it. Variety reports:

I think any jokes about rape, homophobia or Hitler is not a joke,” Lively said on Thursday when asked about the incident by a Variety reporter. “I think that was a hard thing swallow in 30 seconds. Film festivals are such a beautiful, respectful festivals of film and artists and to have that, it felt like it wouldn’t have happened if it was in the 1940s. I can’t imagine Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby going out and doing that. It was more disappointing for the artists in the room that someone was going up there making jokes about something that wasn’t funny.”

Blake Lively doesn’t care for offensive jokes? YOUR HUSBAND IS DEADPOOL.
