Because The View is a place where you can find the greatest minds of our generation navigating hot-button issues so you don’t have to, here’s Barbara Walters explaining how there’s no way Woody Allen could’ve molested Dylan Farrow because he’s such a sweet man which has never backfired before in the history of child molestation, that puts all this to bed. Case closed. Via NY Daily News:

“I have rarely seen a father as sensitive, as loving and as caring as Woody is and Soon-Yi to these two girls (referring to the now married couple’s daughters together.) I don’t know about Dylan. I can only tell you what I have seen now,” the 84-year-old TV personality said.

And Barbara Walters has a point. If someone’s a child molester, the very first thing they do is molest kids right in front of other people and not via a systematic and secretive process of grooming and deflection. They’re a very open and upfront breed, not to mention Bawbwa’s a journalist, so she can sense these things. It’s her powah, deawie. So now that that’s settled, I can just throw away this post from a child abuse investigator who details just how fucked up the entire forensic process was in 1993 when dealing with child molestation cases in general without even getting into Woody Allen’s wealth. Not much point to it now, amirite? Which is good because now we can tackle real problems like how the fuck Dana Loesch sitting next to Jenny McCarthy didn’t create a polar vortex of dumb that consumed us all. Or maybe it did, and Hell is reading and/or writing this site. I could see that happening.

  1. Oh BABY

Thanks, Babs, for your valuable insights and expertise in child molesters. Time to retire, you doddering bag of moldy bones.

  2. You said it!

    Amen Fish!!!

  3. Maybe Whoopi should weigh in on it next. She’d never say anything dumb about childhood sexual assault.

  4. Whoopi Goldberg looks like its Tracey Morgan imitating her on SNL.

Barbara Walters has such a severe facelift she can’t even talk.

  5. I never heard Barbara Walters speak until I was 19. Before that, I only knew of her through Gilda Radner’s “Baba Wawa” impression. I didn’t realize how dead on that was until the summer of 1990, when Walters was a last-minute fill-in on “Nightline” when the news broke late on a Friday that Justice William Brennan was retiring from the Supreme Court.

“Good evening. Justice William Bwennan announced he was wetiwing fwom the Supweme Court earwier today…”

This has been another edition of TomFrank’s Ghost Stories™.

  6. Goose

Democrats defending other Democrats. Film at 11.

    • Ahahahaha, calling Barbara Walters a “Democrat.” And you know this how, exactly? Oh, because all celebrity journalists are Democrats?

Baba Wawa dated Alan Greenspan, Roy Cohn (!!), and Sen. John Warner (after he divorced Liz Taylor); is a longtime close friend of Fox News head Roger Ailes; and perhaps most famously had an affair with Republican Senator Edward Brooke in the 1970s. That’s some track record for a Democrat, or even a liberal, which I bet is what you really meant, but you think those terms are synonymous.

Maybe, um, I don’t know, stop talking out of your ass.

      • you’re assuming that angry conservatives really give two shits about ‘FACTS’. they’re just angry at anyone who isn’t a Republican or dare criticizes a conservative. the ‘stick up the ass’ of the Politics of Hate is at an all time fever pitch. I only wish Obama could get elected a third time only to see these twats have simultaneous heart attacks to clean up this country.

      • Butters

        Politics of Hate?

You seem really angry and hateful, calling for these folk to get heart attacks.
        Do you need a hug?
It will be ok, that mean old conservative under your bed won’t get you.

      • I have yet to see a conservative who could fit under my bed.

      • “assuming that angry conservatives really give two shits about ‘FACTS’”

Why beat around the bush: rightwing reactionary shit-for-brains (isn’t the terms “rightwing reactionary” and “shit-for-brains” REDUNDANT?) reSCUMlicans.

    • Kindly go fuck yourself with Barbara Walters’ bloody razors, Goose, kindly do so. Because I’m a Democrat, and my heart bleeds all fucking over & shit. And while you’re at it, may you please erotically asphyxiate Woody Allen’s shriveled penis right off of him? Thanks! ;*

  7. She needs to hurry up and die.

*By “She” I mean everyone on The View.

  8. More like “celebrities defending other celebrities”, Goose.

    • Why miss a chance to inject politics into something? How else would people know that he’s an asshole?

      • Jay Carney

Absolutly. I’m sure this is all somehow Bush’s fault.

Wasn’t H.W. in the White House when she was being diddled?
        See…it was Bush’s fault!

    • And she is totally a celebrity kiss-ass, too. In one of her stand-up acts years ago, Kathy Griffin told the story of how she went on The View and talked about her upcoming marriage, where she asked her guests to make donations to amfAR in lieu of gifts. Walters airily dismissed that, “Oh, like Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’s wedding.” Griffin shot back, “Yeah, well, mine wasn’t a shotgun wedding.” Walters was totally flustered, stunned that this…this nobody talked back to her that way.

Years later, Kathy Griffin saw Star Jones at something or other and walked up to her: “Excuse me, Ms. Jones, I don’t know if you remember me—”
“Girrrrrrrl, we still talk about that day! When Barbara isn’t around, we take turns playing you!”

      • Is that what you do when I’m at work? Watch The fucking View?

      • Did you miss the part that began “In one of her stand-up acts years ago…”? I’ll cop to watching Kathy Griffin when Bravo shows her one-hour specials. At least I used to, when I had reason to watch Bravo. But then they stopped re-running The West Wing and I was done with them.

So, yeah, I used to watch The West Wing while you were at work.

  9. Well its time to put Great Granny Walters out to pasture, take her way out to pasture she is going to smell up the place with her being this old.

  10. Not going to watch it, but to defend this obvious pedophile is ridiculous, ludicrous even. This man has been given a pass when he should be sitting in a prison cell.

  11. What more does anyone need to know that this man, Woody Allen, fished for his next girlfriend from the kiddie pool at his current girlfriend’s house? How much creepier can it get?

  12. Vic Damone

Old bag wishes Woody Allen would assault her in the attic.

  13. thecrazybetty

not surprising. barbara walters has always been a hollywood suck butt and she’s an old pervert herself. shame on her.

  14. Say What

This whole debacle just shows how many celebrities have truly sold their souls to the devil for a shot at the big time.

    • Folly

Well, that piece was written by a guy who filmed a documentary about Woody Allen. I’m sure that his point of view isn’t biased in the least!

      • True, but he does bring up some valid points.

      • So? The whole Internet flaming up against Allen like a lynch mob based on one side of the story isn’t biased? Isn’t it right that both sides of an argument be heard before one can make up their mind? Does the writer of the article not raise a number of points which no one else seems to be addressing, whatever his relationship to Allen may be? Or maybe you just feel it’s right to douse someone in tar and feathers and string them up based on something you know nothing about and have done no fact-checking on. Hey, I guess you work for Fox News!

    • I like how no one realizes that The Daily Beast article came out a week before Dylan’s open letter which was a provoked response to its horseshit whitewashing.

    • Nope. The way I read it, the majority of that guy’s argument is, “Yeah, but… but… Mia Farrow slept with a lot of dudes!” Sorry, but slut-shaming the kid’s mom is not a reasonable defense against Woody Allen sexually abusing their daughter.

      • It seemed like that was mostly to counteract the stuff people say about Woody and Soon-Yi, as well as to establish that the marriage was already breaking up at some point from both sides, meaning that neither side was a “victim” in the matter. Given that the stuff with Soon-Yi is Allen’s personal life, that’s also irrelevant and shaming Allen for it is a similar move to shaming Mia. That is to say, most of that should be thrown out when considering the Dylan matter. Either way, I’d say it was more of a quarter of the argument he was making; certainly not a majority. He probably put it up front to get it out of the way because it was a weaker point that we should just get over, but, the mistake is that putting it up front means that’s the first impression. People are immediately going to react to that portion and then are already against the article and not giving the rest of it any real thought.

      • Woody Allen was, when this happened, trying to adopt two of Mia’s children, as well as “his” and Mia’s son, Ronan. There’s a public, much earlier photograph of Allen holding a quite-young Soon-Yi on his lap during a ball game. There is no doubt Allen functioned as a father-figure in that home. It isn’t as if Allen started dallying with some random 19-year-old side piece. And the Daily Beast piece was a joke, even by the “standards” of puff-piece journalism, and was written by someone who directly profits from Woody Allen’s career.

  15. Barbara Walters makes a poor and awkward defense of Allen, but the black chick that argues with her, whoever she is, makes just as poor and awkward an accusation.

At the end of the day, what we have here is either a definitely weirdo but otherwise innocent 80 year old man being once again wrongfully and damagingly accused of heinous acts by his vengeful ex through their psychologically damaged adopted child or a poor girl who wasn’t believed at the time and whose abuser remains not only free, but succesfull, celebrated and acclaimed throughout the world.

In either case, it’s just very, very sad for all involved.

  16. I just wanna go ahead and defend all the spiteful, vengeful women out there: if Mia Farrow is one, she has every reason to be. If we gotta use opportunities to highlight injustices *like molesting your daughter and *marrying and estranging you from your other daughter, then vengeful women, fucking do it. This man came into her world, helped her build her world, and completely perverted it. You know what the real question here is? Because she is adopted, does that make it ok to have done those things to Dylan, and even Sun Yi? What does that make of the bond between parents and adopted children? No wonder our foster programs and social programs are fucked: we don’t care, and we are gonna give him an Oscar. Yeah, if that was my kid, i would be vengeful and bitter to the extreme. Mia has held it together WAY better than i ever would.

  17. Hey Are You George Zimmerman?

For Christ’s sake. Why is anyone listening to that old geezer. Barbara Walters is the biggiest star fucker around (aside from the LAPD). Her specials are a joke, and all this “journalist” does is toss soft balls at interviewees. She always has. She always said that Gilda Randner’s impersination of her hurt her feelings, until Bette Davis stated she loved it when people impersonated her, then magically Barbara loved it too.

  18. TheTruth

A 20 year-old marriage that started as a sensation? A solid marriage? HE BAGGED SOON-YI THE SAME WAY! PAY ATTENTION!

Oh my god, it is still playing… it hurts my ears so bad.

  19. Unlike the HUGE majority of you guys, I don’t have an opinion on this whole mess, cause it’s pretty clear (to me, at least) that we’ll never get the whole truth out of this story.

If it was truly a clear-cut case of molestation, criminal accusations against Allen would have come up from the six month investigation police did in 1992. And God knows I love to point out cops’ incompetence, but how about those child-abuse specialists who declared Farrow to have not been molested? Are we really suppose to just ignore the opinions of third-parties who actually are experts in this field, investigate the matter thoroughly, and found it without merit?

Then again… Do I believe Dylan Farrow is lying here? No, not really.
Do I believe Woody MIGHT have done it? Hell yeah.
So, basically, I don’t know shit about this.

I know, though, that Allen hooking up with the 19-years old adopted daughter of his girlfriend is creepy as all hell. Doesn’t make him a child molester, though… but it doesn’t NOT make him one either.

    Fun article: http://thedailybanter.com/2014/02/dylan-farrow-is-telling-the-truth-as-she-know-is-but-is-it-the-truth-as-it-happened/

    • sally

“Are we really suppose to just ignore the opinions of third-parties who actually are experts in this field”

Hopefully these aren’t the same “experts” that the cops used to investigate the Duke lacrosse players or for the McMartin preschool trial.

      • Well… are they? Because, unless you know something about their records the rest of us don’t, we all have to assume they were competent and did their job professionally.

    • Finally, a reasoned, sane voice! I’m with you Mighty Mad.

  20. Leila

Barbara Walters wouldn’t be doing this pathetic show if anyone had the least bit of respect for her personally or professionally. Remember, this is the show that gave elizabeth hasslebeck a platform to leap to her home at fox news. But shame on her for being such an unrelenting asshole. She’s showing off her friendship with Allen, because that’s more important to her than the claims of a young woman that this piece of shit molested her. Her entire story is based on the fact that she’s never personally seen him molest a child. We keep calling the wrong people skanks.

  21. What a courageous stand, Babs. “I can’t speak about what he did to Dylan, all I can say is that I’ve never seen him sexually molest his two other daughters as long as I’ve known him.”

All i can say is that I hope your great great granddaughter doesn’t get raped tomorrow. she’s about 7 now, right?

  22. kafak

Did anyone see the Today show with Allen’s lawyer? Thoughts on what he said?

  23. Hugh Evers

If he hadn’t made “Bananas” this would be a non-issue. Barbara witnessed how he treated a different daughter so that clears things up, yet some will not let it go.

    • It clears what up? Not every pedophile is a serial pedophile. It’s not uncommon for a pedophile to fixate on one child in the household as a victim and leave other children alone.

  24. Bringbackbabalu

For the record, she is 100% liberal. For Libs like Fish, and Barbara Walters, Woody gets a pass.

  25. I can’t even bring myself to watch the clip but I hope that any of the celebs who’ve openly supported Dylan don’t forget about this bullshit and boycott any and all BW specials and whatever remains of The View. It is blowing my mind that some ppl are letting ‘fame’ cloud their judgement/beliefs on rape/molestation. Ridic.

  26. This is all extremely frustrating. Investigators, doctors, and experts who actually worked on the case couldn’t even come to an agreement on if it did or didn’t happen, but everyone on the internet KNOWS what happened, despite not even being there and the grand majority of which don’t have any expertise.

I don’t know what happened, but I’m able to say that I don’t know. How can i? An article comes out with all comes of stuff that supports one side, and then another comes out and tells you a bunch of stuff that the first article left out and tells you why that first article isn’t to be believed, then an expert comes and says that article isn’t any good, then another expert comes and says that first expert is wrong, and then another expert comes and says that expert is biased, and then another expert comes and say none of them know what they’re doing, and how am I supposed to know who to trust? If 5 different doctors all tell me I have a disease I can’t even pronounce, how can I say “Oh, well, I read a lot of stuff on the internet, so I know that doctor is right.” No. I haven’t been to medical school. I don’t know this stuff. If they each say the other is wrong, I have no way of knowing which one is actually right, if any of them even are.

People are starting with the assumption that something did or did not happen, and then proceed to address how good or bad something is depending upon how it aligns with whichever side they’ve chosen. People HATE to be wrong. HATE IT. There are studies – published studies – that a good portion of people will not change their minds on a matter when presented with credible evidence, and then will not even change their minds when they are actually told, and shown, that they are categorically wrong.

I liked the Weide article myself because it seemed fairly unbiased. It was, for the most part, offering points that defended Woody, but that’s primarily because you hear stuff that condemns him. Someone can reasonably play devil’s advocate to try to balance that out. It’s like I’d hear back in 2004-2008. “Oh, the Daily Show can’t be trusted to be impartial. They’re always making fun of Republicans.” Of course they are, they’re the ones in charge at the time, so they’re the most visible ones. Something can be fairly unbiased, even if it makes a point against one side, if it’s largely acting as a counter-weight to what seems like a loaded environment. Though I will admit that’s a pretty subjective judgment. But, things like that article about the botched investigation. Alright, he’s an expert, I’ll listen to what he says, but if he’s wrong, how am I supposed to know? But he’s obviously saying some reaching things and showing a bias against Woody.

“It would’ve been the perfect time to do it because it was the worst time to do it.” What? No. That just means it would’ve been equally good and bad, which means it’s equally likely to have and have not happened, and therefore is irrelevant. And that’s assuming Woody even had this skill-set to pull such a thing off. It’s just taking a situation and reversing it, which you can do with anything because the glass can be half full and half empty at the same time. You could just as easily say Mia deliberately created suspicious things in her accusations such as the stop-starts in the tape in order to create an opening for Allen supports to gain momentum and become vocal against her so that she could play the victim of the people and curry favor that way. You can’t just say “Well, Woody’s a child molester because child molesters are sneaky and if you were sneaky you could’ve done it so he’s a child molester.” That’s circular reasoning. And the ending was just cheap. “Well, lots of people feel like giving Allen the benefit of the doubt, which is the good and reasonable thing to do, but let’s keep his victim Dylan in mind.” or “I don’t know what happened, but if it was investigated today, there might be a different outcome where Dylan got justice against the man who molested her. Which is Woody Allen.”

Man, no one’s going to read all this, but it’s so frustrating that I feel like I need to vent.
