re: Lena Dunham: 66th Primetime Emmy Awards (25 comments)

More like “shart” here.

Agreed – these contracts usually leave the participants with little or no say in how they’re portrayed, but if blurring out was guaranteed then she certainly does have cause for damages. You ask for $10M, knowing that you’ll settle for $100K – it’s done all the time.

Unfortunately, she’s an absolute idiot because she’s choosing to blame the show’s flashing her unblurred bits for costing her a “relationship” that may or may not have ever gone anywhere, rather than accepting that her decision to be on the fucking thing in the first place – blurred or not – was probably the root (sorry) cause of Mr. Ideal’s not ever calling her again. This is the sort of thing you should be upfront about at the beginning, so lots of bad decisions on her part all the way around.

It’s not just the “steady stream of suds” (love that, btw). It’s ironic that faith is actually NOT enough for Cameron et al – they need, and want, absolute proof of God’s existence, and run around thinking they’ve found it in things like human genetically-modified bananas. They don’t seem to grasp that if that evidence was so clear, and God’s existence was that easily proven, there would be no doubt, and no need for faith at all.

Either that, or Photo Boy is acting out again.

What you’ve given us has been sumptuous – we should be the ones thanking you. Your “ridiculous shit” makes me laugh every fucking day, and that’s the reason I go to this site before I even check my mail in the morning.

What can I say? You had me way before $300 GOOP scone holsters, and I have no intention of ever quitting you.

re: It's Safe Now, Apollo Theater, John McCain's Here (15 comments)

Fuck off. McCain’s service to his country doesn’t render him a saint any more than Poppy Bush’s bailing out of a Corsair turned him into a fucking eagle. McCain’s war record is questionable at best, and his family wealth meant that he never had to suffer the substandard medical care that his fellow soldiers had to endure. So for all that he beats that fellow-soldier-war-hero-veteran drum like there’s no tomorrow, he somehow manages to vote against every single bill that would improve VA benefits. The one bill that did pass in 2008 was one he actively campaigned against, but he still tried to take credit for it even though he never showed up to vote. See, opposing the bill was actually in everyone’s best interest because he had a much better version in the works – even if every VA and VFW single organization didn’t want it.
