Jessica Simpson is useless
Despite being in Washington to lobby Congress for funding, Jessica Simpson turned down an invitation to meet the president and congressional leaders at a republican fundraiser. Jessica is lobbying for funding on behalf of Operation Smile, a charity that provides free plastic surgery for indigent overseas children with severe facial deformities. She apparently refused the opportunity because Operation Smile is a non-partisan group.
Now, I don’t know what the problem was, but I think Jessica just missed a huge personal and professional opportunity. Ah well. If tits were brains, Jessica Simpson would be at least as smart as my left man-breast. But they aren’t, so she ain't. On behalf of the facially-deformed orphans of the world, I’d like to say “Thpppankks aluot Jeshhicca”.*
NOTE: Don't send your hate mail to me, send it to Jessica Simpson. She's the one that failed the facially-deformed orphans.

Why would Jessica Simpson want to become just another celebrity expressing their political views...it can only hurt her career. If she went to this fundraiser (not just a meeting with the President) she would be attracting more people to it and therefore helping the Republican party raise money.
Whether she is a Republican or not she didn't go to Washington to raise money for a political party, she went to raise awareness of an extremely selfless and helpful organization that saves thousands of children a year from living in the dark.
If you ask me, Jessica has a pretty good publicist who knows when her client is being played. You my friend don't have a clue about politics or about volunteering your time for a good cause.

How is partisan affiliation at all relevant when being invited to speak with Congressional Leaders? What a boner! Does she even understand the concept of lobbying? Who ever supports your cause by way of funds is your ticket bitch, no matter what party they are a member of. Read my deformed lips: Your Fired!
10. Posted by gogoboots on March 16, 2006 02:45 PM
Hmmmm, she probably doesn't even know what partisan means. Hence the confusion, I really wouldn't want to meet the President either, but really, she could at least make Bush pretend he cared about facially deformed kids with the power of her tits.

It's called Party Affiliation and not "partisan affiliation" and she needs both democrats and republicans to support opsmile so going to a rep. fundraiser WOULD NOT help.

How about instead of plastic surgery overseas, how about FOOD overseas. Damn these celebrities are vain as hell.
I can just hear her "I want to help the ugly people be physically expectable, even though they don't have chicken, or is it tuna, I'm confused"

I'm with Scott on this. I'm pretty sure she didn't make the decision, and I'm 100% sure that whoever decided had a good reason for refusing this opportunity (although not sure it was in the interest of os?)

Bono has met with the president about non-partisan charities. Stupid to pass up an opportunity to get face time for your charity. It just shows that her handlers partisanship is more important to them then the charity that her Agency assigned her for publicity once she became famous.

she's just as stupid as can be. and was never hot in the first place. anyone ever see her without makeups when she was still doing the newlywed? she looks like a man with a giant mouth..thinking about helping others with deformed mouths? she should get her own mouth fixed before thinking of doing anything else...
20. Posted by Scott on March 16, 2006 03:16 PM
This isn't about meeting with the President, it's about attending a fundraiser to raise money for the Republican Party. If the President offered to meet with Jessica before or after the Fundraiser I am sure OpSmile and Simpson would be ecstatic about it. But all the NRCC (Nation Republican Campaign Committee) was trying to do was use her as a ploy to get people to attend the fundraiser, not to talk about OpSmile.
21. Posted by WD-40 on March 16, 2006 03:20 PM
Bono never was required to attend a Republican Funraiser in order to get "private face time" with Bush.
She was being played. Good thing she has someone around her to see thru it.
22. Posted by Billy Ray Jones on March 16, 2006 03:23 PM
This is the smartest thing I have ever seen Jessica do. Good for her! The Republican Party doesn't care about deformed children, unless they're 16 and need breast implants.
The only "Smile" they would be operating is the one's on their faces while watching her corn-fed Texas tits...I'm just sayin'!
Peace.
23. Posted by lysistrata11 on March 16, 2006 03:35 PM
Yeah, I can't see how this meeting would've helped her or the organization in any way. The government wouldn't donate a damn thing to her cause. They're only concerned with lining their own pockets. It would've only wasted time and pushed away donors who aren't crazy about the president.
24. Posted by happy_bunny on March 16, 2006 03:40 PM

25. Posted by jinxie on March 16, 2006 03:51 PM
networking people...NETWORKING! fundraisers... hmmmm, aren't they usually attended by people with lotsa money? I feel confident some of those old white boys would love to donate some money to ms. simpson's charity - especially if given the chance to stand next to her for a photo op and ogle her cleavage in person... her dumb ass publicist should have worked it to get her equal time with the democrat money bags-then she could cash in on all the middle age men in D.C. that aren't over their chearleader fantasies. that would have really given those poor ugly kids a chance to be beautiful. jessica is sooo self centered.

27. Posted by The VZA on March 16, 2006 03:52 PM
Happy_Bunny, I'm sure she had an idea of what "bipartisan" means, but she probably thinks she'll go to hell if she becomes one.
I don't think lobbying for plastic surgery for underprivileged deformed children is so much a political view as an incredibly shallow, misguided attempt at bettering her public image through charity. I can't believe there's a charity such as this, much less someone vapid enough to believe it's doing any good on the par of, say, UNICEF.
Zoulou = Retard
Instead of playing Captain Save-A-Ditz against the big, bad bloggers, why not go out and help her lobby Congress for this worthwhile charity and do something better with YOUR time?
28. Posted by honeycomb's_big_yeahyeahyeah on March 16, 2006 03:55 PM
Operation Smile sounds a more tuggy on the heart strings than Operation Pervert Face, where big pervert faces like her dad get their crooked shit-eating perverty grins adjusted. And Operation Ass Chin, where untalented sisters get...murdered. By Satan!
29. Posted by Rusty on March 16, 2006 04:00 PM
I agree with jinxie #25 above. I understand Jessica's publicist (because it sure as hell wasn't Jessica) not wanting her to only hit up Republican functions, but he/she should have been good enough to get her into a Democratic function as well while she was in Washington. Seriously, folks...all anyone ever talks about is how rich these GOP leaders are and how they're only out to line their pockets - perhaps she should have used these incredible money-making boobs to get some of that untapped wealth out of them. She's a complete idiot, and I think she made a stupid move. You don't have to like the president or a certain party to hit them up for some major cash if it's a cause you believe in.
30. Posted by Scott on March 16, 2006 04:03 PM
Why don't you check out what this group does "The VZA" before you make idiotic comments like that.
If these kids didn't have surgery they would live their whole life being ridiculed for how they looked. They would attend little to no school because of being made fun of and would never get the opportunities other people would get. It is hard enough living in an impoverished country, let alone in one where you are the lowest in society because of how you look.
Why don't you check out their website and see if you still think they are charity who doesn't "do any good."
www.operationsmile.org, nice talking to you Bill O'Reilly.
31. Posted by Scott on March 16, 2006 04:08 PM
To #29, they gave her a days notice to attend this event, believe it or not, there aren't massive Republican or Democratic fundraisers every night in DC, and if their were, I doubt Jessica would want to spend her time going to them.
She came to this town for a NON-PARTISAN group, so why get involved with politics at all. If Bush really cared about Operation Smile he wouldn't have put her in this position. Either way, everyone is getting press for this, and I guarantee when you ask the real politicos, they won't side with the Republican party on this debate.
She met with both Republican and Democratic Representatives on the Hill so lets leave it at that, keep it non-partisan and go home.
32. Posted by The VZA on March 16, 2006 04:12 PM
Wow Scott, you really showed me. Calling someone "Bill O'Reilly" must be the new "you fucking Nazi". In an unrelated story, I'll keep my own opinion while you drink Miz Simpson's big-tittie-flavored Kool Aid.
33. Posted by suzy on March 16, 2006 04:12 PM
People close to Simpson said she declined a request to appear that same evening at the gala fund-raiser of the National Republican Congressional Committee -- even after she was offered some private face time with Bush -- because Operation Smile is a non-partisan group.
"It just feels wrong," one Simpson insider told Reuters on Wednesday, adding that the actress keeps her political views private. "She would love to meet the president and talk about Operation Smile ... but she can't do it at a fund-raiser for the Republican Party."

Scott's right. It was a fundraiser and she was being played as a drawing card. Bono has had one-to-one time and has spoken at non-partisan events, but he hasn't allowed himself to be played by either side. Clearly, Ms Simpson's reps are smarter than the spokeman for the GOP will give them or the American people credit.

Jessica was afraid by meeting with Bubba Bush people would realize she is the smarter of the two. That would ruin her bimbo image, costing her millions of dollars.
I saw her news conference. She tried to dumb it down, but she still came off as a better speaker than Bubba Bush.

for what it's worth, the Simpson insider who dished on the refusal was her dad, who didn't want her to attend, for many of the reasons listed above. But damn, she would have been sitting next to John Boehner, and I'd love to see the picture of him ogling down her shirt.

FYI, most children born with cleft palates can not breathe or eat properly (even from a bottle) without the operation. Most of the deformities these children have are caused by the lack of prenatal care and the unsanitary enviroment mothers live in during their pregnancy. Operation Smile is a charity that needs financial support from both Democrats and Republicans. These are not superficial operations for vanity nor are the children necessarily orphans. Jessica has been very supportive of the President, but cannot represent Operation Smile at a convention raising money for something other than Operation Smile. Let's get back to joking the self absorbed celebrities not doing anything useful but making asses out of themselves for our entertainment, bitches.

How could some people POSSIBLY be so stupid? Despite if you think Jessica Simpson is stupid, silly or downright slutty, doesn't change the underlying fact she is looking to help CHILDREN, not vainly trying to achieve the Michael Jackson style nose but instead trying to help children who would be ridiculed, denied of any education, and would no doubt lead unhappy, unloved lifestyles in third-world countries. Some countries in Latin America, where cleft-lips are very common, children have to wear BAGS ON THEIR HEADS. And why not first help those in this country? Hrm, well maybe, kids aren't forced out of school or forced into paper bags. Live 8? Was a desperate attempt at helping people dramatically after ignoring an issue for years, only to have it come back and bite us in the ass in the form of a pandemic, lets not ignore something else just being were are thinking about the mainland, kthanx.

With the money thier parents/orphanage are/is skimming from cheaping on the surgury, I'm sure they are able to pay the power bill. You are kind of making assumptions there, aren't you? Ha ha though, that picture of Jessica makes her look like a reeeeee-tard.

Damn it I hate it when i get sucked into this but I love it so much when liberals use the term "non-partisan" as if they are speaking of themselves in such a way, yet they use the term "Republican" to describe gun-toting, white aristicratic pieces of shit.
Non-partisan means not giving in to the Democrat vs Republican propaganda and actually thinking about what is best for the country without labels.
By the way I thought Jessica Simpson lobbying for Operation Smile was some sort of tooth-whitening procedure - those things are blinding! And made worse by fake tanning.

Trust me, Bono has attended every type of Washington event he can get into, and when he's there he hits up everybody there for his cause. But that is because Bono actually seems to care about the charity and causes he represents. I'm not joking when I say that the agencies repping stars give them a list of charities and tell them to pick one. It's all part of the biz. Oh, and by the way, does Jessica have any new movies coming up? I heard that some deal got canceled because Dukes of Hasszard didn't make 100 million domestic box office.
69. Posted by Anna on March 18, 2006 07:59 AM
Oh my word, you guys are using Bono and Simpson in the same sentence comparing charity work.. I think my brain just started to bleed a little.. Bono has actually done some good with his celebrity, as much as it pains me to admit. And yes, so what if it is a Republican fundraiser? Republicans, Democrats, and everyone else use the same money-though I do agree that she would have been blacklisted by liberal Hollywood, but ya know, last time I checked, they really didn't give a rat's a@@ about her anyways...And honestly, this is not Clinton we're talking about, Bush can't make time in his schedule for every woman with big boobs who wants "private time" to "discuss" something.
70. Posted by GJMN on March 18, 2006 11:07 AM
The Operation Smile Charity is a nonprofit organization. Therefore, if she WERE to attend a Republican fundraiser, that would be considered partisan activity and the WHOLE charity could lose their tax-exempt status. Do your research before you start calling her stupid for not cozying up to Bush.
71. Posted by HughJorganthethird on March 18, 2006 02:45 PM
I think it should be mentioned that over half of these deformations where caused by the agent orange sprayed by the US over half of South east Asia during the Vietnam war. I'm sure their parents where probably communists anyway so I'm not judging.

GJMN, She is the face of a non-partisan organization. She can go wherever she wants to to increase exposure and raise money. The NAACP ran anti-Bush ads in during the election and they are a non-partisan organisation and have tax-exempt status. So how about you do YOUR research before correcting somebody who is correct.
