Emma Watson enjoys her underage drinking

emma-watson-corona.jpg

I love it when 15-year-old girls put on Snoopy shirts and illegally drink beer in front of the camera. Especially when they're fancy schmancy actresses who play Hermione in Harry Potter movies. It's a pretty specific love, but it's a deep one.

I'm sure she's responsible enough compared to the legal Paris Hilton socialites running around.

I am pretty fricken speechless right now.

Who would want to hang out at a club where there's a bunch of drunk 15 yr olds? Btw, are you sure this isn't a picture of a 15 yr old boy?

Thats awesome... more corrupted hollywood youth

AND WHERE ARE HER PARENTS?????

i think shes just posing for the camera. like when we were little and we used to play on the play ground with candy cigarettes in our mouths. and then we got candy cancer. and our moms gave us vegetable radiation therapy. or maybe im the only one who took it that far.

In Britain, you can serve alcohol with food to anyone 14 years old or above, although they can't order it themselves. It looks like she isn't in a club so much as a restaurant (check out the place settings). Providing there's an adult with her to buy the drink, it ain't unlawful.

So we don't actually know that she's having an illicit booze-up...

"AND WHERE ARE HER PARENTS?????"

Off camera to the left, perhaps?

Assuming that's in England, where she comes from, that's probably legal.

If she's over 14 (yes), it's with food (yes - see the knives and forks on the table) and it was bought by an over 18-year-old (presumably), then it's legit.

Incidentally, the basic age requirement to buy your own in England is 18, not 21 like in the US.

For all the oh-so-superior Brits who are going to slag me off for saying "England" - the law is different in Scotland, suckers!

Urrr, maybe they aren't as strict in England? As for posing... that girl is drunk. Her face is all pink - like when you are drunk. Ahh, Hermione.

Most European children know how to handle their alcohol and are introduced to it at an earlier age.
American kids go off the wall with a bottle of Mike's Lemonade the minute they sneak it from their fridge.

But I don't see how this is shocking or anything.

It doesn't surprise me, teens drink there is no possible way of stopping it from happening.

If she is drinking at all (I think it's posed like #6 says), she's only drinking Corona, which, like shagging in a canoe, is fucking close to water.

she is such a great role model.

oh yeah

I don't care about that she's drinking. When she gets drunk and pukes on Daniel Radcliffe's crotch, then we're in business.

Haha! She is soooo busted!

Or, she just might be joking around, it doesn't even look like she's drinking it.

Well, she is British. I guess the teeth don't go south until somewhere past 18 then... Hmm... Interesting phenomenon. But I digress...

What is scary, is she is probably more well adjusted than the 15 year olds drinking in your town (insert name here).

Seriously, though. I don't begrudge her the booze. Britain has long waited for their very own "Drew Barrymore". Maybe she is just ready to start shedding that little girl image. Ditching Snoopy would help but then the irony would not be so sweet. And we all know them Brits love their irony...

Yep. This is a child star on the move. Look for her to start the snorting crank and spending some quality time with Rod (no I don't mean the Potter character). Then later in life comes the book and the movie special about how Potter ruined her life. I can see it now...

"I felt so one dimensional..."
Hello! Your British!! Have a spot of tea and a bisquit and settle down now.

Jolly good show, Hermione. Jolly good show.

>>#14
she is such a great role model.

oh yeah <<

Anyone who looks up to a 15 year old celebrity as a role model has self esteem issues and needs a swift back hand to the face.

An 11 year old should concentrate on learning her nouns, not opening up the Teen Bop magazine.

Well I was pretty f'in shocked, but then I realized she is British but at the same time I thought about Drew Barrymore. No one wants to go through what she went through at such a young age!

But then again, she is British. AND, so many of us, American and British etc, have been drinking since our early teens (or earlier!!) and have turned out fine and non-alcoholics.

That wouldn't be me though. I didn't start drinking until college :D

it's Britain. She is allowed to drink. And even so, why is drinking that wrong? If it isn't excessive, why not? If people learn how to handle at a young age, less problems will come of it later on. I was drinking at 14, not a lot (and not corona) and it never hurt anyone.

She's British, I'm not sure what the drinking age is there, but I'm sure that it's not as big a deal for a younger teen like her to be drinking. Dammit, I feel dirty, I didn't mock a young celeb. Siiiigh, hey Superficial...can you post something about Tara Reid so I can rip on her and make up for this serious post?

I'd hit it.

Big deal.

The School of Becoming Famous in America:

Lesson One: Underage public drinking. (COMPLETED)
Lesson Two: "Accidental" nip slip.
Lesson Three: Dumb it down a bit.
Lesson Four: Get yourself linked to Colin Farrell in a story in US Weekly or Star (extra credit if the story runs in both).
Lesson Five: One word. Collagen.

Graduate Course: How to wreck your $100,000 Mercedes and blame it on the paparazzi that were "chasing" you.

She's well on her way and I'm glad to see she's getting a bit of a head start.

OKay All u fiNE young AmericanS...in EurOpe, Canada, & pretty much every other country thats not getting tips from america...its truely not that big of a deal, plus im pretty sure some of you were hitting up those beer pong tables before you were outta high school....

When are those boobiez gonna grow in?

I'm losing patience.

I mean that in the most satirical of ways BTW. That is for all you Poms out there that just broke out in a huff, called your Mum to complain, and suddenly wondered how come that fat American Sepo had the gall to mention the teeth thing... LMAO

BTW - I agree with everyone that this is posed and even if it isn't, it could hardly matter. Europeans are far superior at teaching their kids about booze in most cases and the laws are such that she could get shnockered at dinner with her parents without any legal issue. If this is all Britain can muster, I think we shall safely hold the "Skank Queen" crown for at least another 5 years. Well, 5 years or until Paris Hilton's vagina spontaneously combusts killing a small tribe of undocumented pigmies who lived in her nether-regions.

Again, I digress... As far as the beer goes, Corona? YUCK! Get that girl a Boddington's. ASAP!!

I know her, in passing. She drinks a bit and um, gets around, but she's ok, that's what people our age do, you know?

"Most European children know how to handle their alcohol and are introduced to it at an earlier age."

Hahahahaha... I love it when Eurotrash spews this myth.

I NEVER saw so much alcohol abuse by young adults as I did in Europe. Not to mention the smoking too.

She's doing research for her next film:

"Harry Bladder Buster And The Commode Of Vomit"

18+ clubs are bad enough; when I go out, I don't want to see a bunch of kids.

As an American, I have to say many of my favorite beers are British brands/types. For an English actress to be drinking beer that is pretty much equivalent to Mexicans pissing in a bottle and selling it..well I find that very disturbing. No offense meant to Mexicans, or people who enjoy pissing in bottles, or people who enjoy drinking piss from bottles. It's just not something I find enjoyable.

"I NEVER saw so much alcohol abuse by young adults as I did in Europe. Not to mention the smoking too."

omfg NEVER?
ever?
Mozy on over to Illinois and take a gander.
It's lovely.
Because everyone is in denial <3

I feel sad by being called Eurotrash yet a little naughty.
I suppose I've been fortunate enough to meet people my age who know when to put the bottle down and stop brawling over hash.

I'm not that shocked. Authorities and club owners look the other way when young celebs drink. A lot of teens experiment with alcohol and if you've got loads of cash at your disposal AND people will let you buy the stuff...Well, like I said, I'm not shocked.

I'm sure people are going to make a huge deal of this though because OMG!!111 THOS EPOOR KIDS THAT LOOK UP 2 HER1!111

Relax folks she's not actually drinking, it's a Corona for fucks sake. It's not like she's doing Tequila body shots with her 15 year old friends.

heh heh

Oh, and speaking of underage drinking, Paris Hilton's boyfriend is 19, and he parties with her.

http://uslessthings.blogspot.com/2006/02/pariss-boy-gets-people-in-trouble.html

I don't think it's hers. Go back and look at the pic. She's at the end of the table and there's already a drink at her place setting. It looks like a staged shot. Typical kid - goofing around for the shock value. Kind of quaint, really.

Hurry up and do another Paris Hilton post, dammit - I've got a joke all lined up.

this is not underage!
I LIVE IN THE UK AND UNDER CONSENT BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN A CHILD IS ALLOWED TO DRINK ALCOHOL FROM AGE 5.

PURCHASE HOWEVER IS 18, BUT MOST PUBS DON'T REALLY SET LAW.

*starts picking up used tissues off floor* is thata corona?

i'm speechless...this is too funny

well, she's 16 years old and 2 years away from the legal age to drink in england, right??

and we're complaining about her when we have celebrities, i.e. Lindsay lohan etc who are 19 and 2 years away from the legal age as well...

how they get away with it is beyond me... but i like Emma Watson. I hope this was only a pose or a magic trick lol..

she's growing up:
http://www.emmaempire.net/archives/galleries/img.en.17208.1.html

Check it out, there's no booze in the neck of the bottle, she's not actually drinking in that picture. It could just be something silly the photographer asked her to pose as. She might hate the taste even and the look on her face is just one from laughing at herself inside how she must look doing something she wouldn't actually do. You shouldn't take photos out of context unless you've got a real story to go with it.

In Europe the Legal Drinking Age is 15. She is 15 years old, thats why she is drinking.

She's not much younger then Lindsey Lohan, who drinks seven days a week.

Greatest... Pic... Ever...

:|

I'd hit it.

"If people learn how to handle at a young age, less problems will come of it later on."

That's not what the stats say. But hey, sounds like you're in your own little world. Doesn't really matter.

Jessica Simpson is as deep as Britney Spears' hole. Uh-oh. We're in trouble.

Whoops. Placed that comment in the wrong section.

Really, who cares? I was drinking at 15 too. Why is it any different because this chick is in movies? It just means that she can afford better beer, whereas I got stuck drinking skunked Milwaukee's best.

What is the problem?

It's perfectly legal for anyone over 14 to drink beer or cider in a

restaurant/pub in England, as long as it's with food and bought by an

adult.

She's over 14? Tick.

She's drinking beer or cider? Tick.

She's in a restaurant? Tick.

She's having food? Almost certainly - she is seated at a set table with

other people.

It's in England? The W.C. on the toilet door suggests so. As far as I

know no other country has "Water Closets".

It was bought by an adult? Who knows, but there are clearly other

people at the table with her.

In conclusion, it's legal, what's the problem?

This is honestly the stupidest thing I've ever seen on the Superficial. I'm not sure why it is even up, because who doesn't know that she is a British actress living in Britain, where the drinking age is years different from the states?
And to #29, I grew up in Europe and have been drinking since 13 and 14, and since living in America have been surrounded by idiotic binge drinking that was never around my school in Europe. European teens are way more mature and advanced than Americans.
And this story is a waste of space.

Well Drew Barrymore has hrecovered nicely, perhaps Emma will too.

BTW, I think Drew Barrymore is great and I am not hatin' on her at all...

Well Drew Barrymore has recovered nicely, perhaps there is hope for Emma...

BTW, I think Drew is great and I am not hatin' on her at all.

Christ, she's ENGLISH, she's probably been drinking stout since she was 2. Corona, bah, that's piss-water to her, I bet. She could drink me under the table, have a bowl of porridge and then go to school.

I wonder if she hangs out with Bobby & Whitney's kids?

Blech, Corona. She could choose a better drink--courvoisier or Hennessey, anyone?

good god it's just a picture of her pretending to be drinking something, in what seems to be a pretty ordinary house party.

doesn't surprise me you yankees make such a big fuss out of it though, considering your newspaper headlines were once flooded by a nipple slip.

sure, she's the next drew barrymore. because EVERYONE who pretends to be drinking on a photograph will end up addicted to cocaine.

Dude, she not American you know, us non-US ppl can drink from age 15 or 16 and it's no scene...plus like someone said, it's just beer not like she's downing a guiness or shots or something! Plus, it looks like she's messing around with it..good times! haha

I think the more important question is: why is she wearing such an ugly shirt?

Ah, I like Emma.

As long as she's not walking around drunk and jumping up and down on a McDonald's counter like Ashlee Simpson...I don't see what the problem is.

#38 said "I LIVE IN THE UK AND UNDER CONSENT BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN A CHILD IS ALLOWED TO DRINK ALCOHOL FROM AGE 5."

I was wondering why you guys were all retarded. Now I have my answer, thank you.

Look...you need to drink at every age in England. That's the only way the women will start to look good.

it just looks like she's posing for the camera with a drink. i used to do that before i turned 21.... no ok i actually drank it AFTER the shot but still, to me it looks like she's just posing

why is everyone hating on corona, dammit? i love corona. she must be in mexico, not england. i bet emma watson is at the same tijuana club that i used to go to when i was 15, the one with the "donkey show".

...and Wal-Mart wouldn't develop pictures of my 15th birthday party because we were all sitting around doing shots of Wild Turkey and eating magic brownies. Yet this gets plastered all over the internet. Damn you Wal-Mart! Damn you!

Im all for young girls getting drunk. How do you think I get laid?

#49 Maeve - YYYYYYYYES! BEEEEAST! I was reminiscing earlier this evening about the Milwaukee's Best days of my childhood.

#29 fblau - I am an objective American who used to live in Europe. I can assure you that the alcohol-abusing young adults you saw were either American exchange students or American tourists. Sorry. It's true.

#54 LaydeeBug - I spewed Corona (yes, Corona, dammit; yummy) out of my nose laughing at your "drink me under the table, have a bowl of porridge, and then go to school." Thanks.

I've never understood why so many Americans are so tight-assed. She's having a beer, for God's sake, not shooting up heroine. In England, this isn't out of the norm.

It shouldn't be such a big fucking deal in America either. By making it a big deal, we make it overly appealing to young people and end up with a country full of alcoholic losers.

It's true: In Europe, they don't make alcohol a big issue, so it's not such a big deal. I say "GO HERMIONE!! GO!!"

I only wish America were so enlightened.

#67 I am also an objective american that lived in Europe (Italy and Germany) for several years. I also spent a considerable amount of time in London.

Rest assured, there are plenty of drunk americans there... but there are an equal number of drunk brits, canadians, scots (!!!), italians, germans and spaniards there too.

There was also a fair amount of hash being smoked by Italians.

It's rubbish to suggest that Europeans are somehow more responsible drinkers at ANY age.

#13-LOL I almost fell out of my chair at the canoe comment

If Europeans are so enlightened, then why is it that while in Germany one gags on the odor that drifts from Germans' armpits? Have the women never considered shaving them? That should reduce the amount of skank-nastiness that one smells...as would a stick of deodorant, dammit.

I just love stereotypes that say, "Brits are enlightened" or "Europeans mature more quickly than Americans". Have you met everyone in Great Britain or America? Then how can you make such generalizations?

LIKE NONE OF YOU GUYS EVER DRANK AT 15 Please .... GIVE ME A BREAK .... And Just To Be Safe Im Gonna Say Shes WAY More Mature And Responseable Than HoHan Or sHilton. Plus She Looks Kinda Cute Drunk if Your Into That .... Which I Know Most Of You Are !

On social issues, they're definitely more enlightened than we are, but you're right about the armpit issue. The French, Germans, and many Europeans have a different idea of "cleanliness."

"Cleanliness," however, isn't equivalent to social enlightenment. It's not even in the same ballpark, really. It's comparing apples and oranges.

I've spent a little time in France and Italy, have been to Scotland four or five times, was married in Dornoch Sutherland Scotland, and have spent a considerable amount of time in London. (My husband works there.) My opinion is based on my general experiences having lived in three US states in five years and having traveled in Europe a bit.

They are more enlightened than Americans are, based on what I've seen in that time... :::shrug:::

Maybe if we didn't have so many Bible-thumpers, we could make a little more headway =0

looks fake

But given that you haven't been to every part of the U.S. (unlikely anyway), I don't see how this generalization can be made. Since I don't know exactly what a "bible thumper" is, I won't really go into that but I just think it's a little narrow-minded to say with confidence that they are definitely more enlightened. I'm not trying to offend you, I just don't understand how people can say things like this with such certainty.

Social enlightenment should also include sensitivity to the way one affects others. For example, offending people with your own body odor doesn't seem very socially enlightened, but that's only one aspect of some of the people in Germany. I won't try to say that they all do, but some do.

Y'know, I was kinda waiting for some dirt on the Harry Potter kids. And...it kinda sucks. I mean...this was my thought process when I saw this picture: Yup, that's Emma Watson. Yup, she's a hottie. Yup, she has a bottle of Corona. Oh, you mean we're supposed to be shocked, titillated, and outraged? Um...okay. Whatever you say, Superficial.

I mean, come on now, it's Britain. She could probably hold her liquor better than a lot of the frat guys I know (I hesitate to compare her drinking stats to mine, because I'm a notorious lightweight...it's almost sad just how little alcohol will render me shitfaced). Now, if she were dancing on tables and pissing in cabs WHILE holding a bottle of Corona, then we'd be in business.

And I didn't exactly read the rest of the replies too closely, but I'm pretty sure I made the exact same point fifteen other people did. Oh well.

"If Europeans are so enlightened, then why is it that while in Germany one gags on the odor that drifts from Germans' armpits? Have the women never considered shaving them? That should reduce the amount of skank-nastiness that one smells...as would a stick of deodorant, dammit."

Women shouldn't have to shave their armpits in the first place, that's a dumb rule. And its the same type that don't shave in Germany that don't shave in America - a minority. I lived there for years and rarely ran into "natural" women like that.
And people are stinky everywhere in the world! Its not a German thing.

I'm not surprised. Some time ago I saw a photo of her smoking a cigarette. And since she's wearing the same outfit as the one in taken during filming of "Goblet of Fire" at http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3047/gofbehindscenes63yk.jpg , it might be from the same time, which would make her closer to 14 than 15. Hell, at the April 2, 2004 premiere of "Scooby Doo", when she was *13*, she wore a see-through blouse, as seen at http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/9539/4204scoodoo2pre26vl.jpg . Really classy for a kid's movie premiere. What next, a Daily Mirror photo showing her blowing Prince Harry?

I live in London and i was drinking in pubs and clubs at 14!!You Americans stay in school till you're 40+,Cant drink till 30+ no wonder when you see teenage celebs acting like cunts!

Stay in school til 40? Can't drink til 30? How do you figure this?

shes 15?!!?!?!

"If Europeans are so enlightened, then why is it that while in Germany one gags on the odor that drifts from Germans' armpits? Have the women never considered shaving them? That should reduce the amount of skank-nastiness that one smells...as would a stick of deodorant, dammit."

well, didn't you know that us Europeans are neolithic ape-men pretending to be homo sapiens? only at night we strip off our human looking skin and reveal our real skanky self.

generalizations like that make me want to puke all over my monitor...

seeing as she's from england (im guessing this picture was taken there) and the legal drinking age is 18 then what's the difference between the legal drinking age of 21 in the states and teenagers drinking at 18 before they turn 21? She's 15...3 years younger than the legal drinking age there. Same amount of years plus...it's WAY more acceptable there.

I'm pretty sure she didn't get rolling on the floor licking someones ass drunk. She prolly took a swig for the camera and handed it back to her mum.

Get over it.

Some of these posts are quite funny!

If you have a look at the pic again, this is clearly a photoshop job, because her hand IS NOT EVEN HOLDING THE BOTTLE haha!

nice try guys but that was amateur...

She is most probably posing with the bottle, I highly doubt that she is drinking the beer. Oh yeah and BTW, you have to be 18 yrs old over here in Britain to drink legally. Persons under the age of 18 are only allowed in a pub or bar which serves food as well as drink and they are NOT allowed to consume alcohol anyway.

Scotland is actually the country with the highest underage drinking.

And yes most shops/bars are not inforcing of alcohol age.

#61 - yeah we're so retarded you're kind of contradicting yourself as most people from America are desendent from UK, and the typical look of americans over here is Michael Moore! and um its also illegal to own a firearm in this country which its not in yours - our PM has some kind of intellegence... i could go on...

I'm just relieved we're fighting over which country is better at holding their alcohol, rather than 'OMG, emma watson is such a great actor, shell win a oscar, fuck you h8rs!' and 'What is the sekrit behind U KNOW WHO?!11!!!' HP trash that came up last time this kid was mentioned on the forums. Oh, and the obligatory 'I'd hit that.' (Guys, her teeth are still crooked and she's wearing a Snoopy vest. Hold off a little longer.)

Cant any of you retards see the OJ next to her, shes messing around you wankers!!
@azcoyote=eat shit and die!!

#84

Sorry, you're completely wrong. Anyone over 14 CAN drink alcohol in a pub in england, if it's with food and is bought by an adult.

#83: Are you blind? Of course she is holding the bottle.

@LaydeeBug,bowl of porridge then off to school, damn you better either put down the Charles Dickens books or actually go to England you hag!

So how many people here have Olsen-esque counters set up on their websites for this girl?
Anyone?

Uh, me neither.

Hey everybody lets get a f'in grip here.

I grew up in Ohio, I first got ripped at 14 and I am not alone that I am sure. In Europe 10 year olds have wine with dinner. She drinking (allegedly) a Corona, all she is going to get is a headache. If you had pics of her doing shots off of Kate Moss's ass then maybe cause for concern.

There is not story here. By the way when does she turn 18? I'm tired of felling guilty.

Legal drinking age in UK: "5 in private (and with parental consent), 16 or 18 in public (see right)"

She's more than legal.

I know that the belief is that Europeans are so much better at theaching their children to handle their alcohol...that doesn't include Britain however. Binge drinking especially amoung young women there is a HUGE problem.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3121440.stm

5 in private,hellfire i didnt know that!!

who cares if she's "legal" or not, she was probably fooling around for the camera. the real question is which one of her friends was the bitch who released the picture? she is sooo not going to be invited to anymore premieres..tsk tsk.

about all the non- American's using this as an excuse to bash American intelligence, STFU, stop being such douchebags...oh and to #86 is snape good or bad???

#85 - I've never been to the UK but I have a feeling I'm not missing much since it's filled with snobby pasty white skinned snaggletooth people with hairy armpits and reek of cheap cigarettes and alcohol. Our ancestors came here over 200 yrs ago so we've had quite some time to get all that yucky UK stuff out of us.

If you look closer, you'll see the liquid is actually touching her lips. I can't believe it. She's setting a bad example to all her dedicated fans, and may give them the wrong end of the stick. I'm pretty disgusted that she's drinking under-age.

re: post 88

If she's 16 yet, she can't drink alcohol in a bar/pub which serves food

see below

http://www.direct.gov.uk/Parents/YourChildsHealth/YourChildsHealthArticles/fs/en?CONTENT_ID=10026210&chk=VQ8lNQ

sorry if she's under 16...

she's known for starring in Harry fucking Potter, let her drink till she can't see straight..I rest my case..

I cant wait till she hooks up with Pete Doherty

this is how i started out my alcoholic career.... first comes love, then comes alcohol, then comes falling in love with your al-co-hol...

Oh, please. In Spain, down in Costa del Sol you see all this German, British tourists, etc all wasted and drunk. Reason: alcohol is cheaper. And the British are the most dangerous ones specially if they drive... can you imagine a drunk driver driving on the left lane?

In england, it's not illegal to drink at that age. The law is below....

Not everyone can drink beer legally in the UK - there's a minimum age limit as to when you can start buying alcohol. But this limit isn't clear cut.

If you're in a restaurant you can have a glass with a meal at the age of 14.

At 16 you can drink shandy1 in pubs.

At 18 you can start buying alcohol legally in pubs.

i say good for her. i was drinking at that age. and i turned out wicked-awesome.

It is amazing what you can do with Photoshop, isn't it?

Btw, drinking in a private home at the age of 15 is not illegal in Britain.

Looks like she's pretending to drink the Corona actually. I used to do that all the time when I was 15, but then I would actually take a swig. Then I would say, ugh GROSS! She's almost of legal age to drink, isn't it 16 in England?

Do with this what you will. - Rogue

U.S.

On average, young people begin drinking at about age 13 but some start even younger. By the time they are high school seniors, more than 80 percent have used alcohol and approximately 64 percent have been drunk. When adolescents move on to college, they bring their drinking habits with them: more than 40 percent of college students are binge drinkers.

8th graders:
25 percent reported drinking alcohol in the past month
15 percent reported binge drinking in the 2 weeks prior to the survey

England:

EXCESSIVE drinking is killing people in Britain faster than anywhere else in Europe as the country’s alcohol consumption continues to soar...In contrast, alcohol has become less popular in the mainly wine-drinking countries of southern Europe, driving the overall reduction in cirrhosis deaths on the Continent.

Scotland had higher rates — 8.2 and 6.1 respectively — but its record was still low in comparison with some other countries.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3681462.stm

...from 1985 to 1996, there was a tenfold increase in admissions of children aged nine to 16 under the influence of alcohol.

According to an international study by the World Health Organization, 3.6 percent of 11 year-olds admitted to drinking alcopops regularly. At age 15, the figure jumps to almost 15 percent. In Germany, a government report last year said every second alcopop sold was purchased by 14 to 19 year-olds.

But while health officials continue to worry about how the drinks are leading to increased alcoholism among young people, the drink producers are watching their sales climb. Between 2001 and 2002, the amount of alcopops sold rose from 3 to 13 million liters (0.8 to 3.4 million gallons). The biggest markets are Germany, France, Britain, Belgium and Denmark. In Germany, sales of Rigo and Breezer -- two popular mixed drinks -- account for 56 percent of Bicardi Deutschland's turnover.

Teenagers who drink large quantities of alcohol are risking their teeth. A study of the dietary habits of over 400 14-year olds in Birmingham found those who drank heavily were more likely to suffer from dental erosion.

(2003 ) Europe's cafe culture has always been a source of envy for British tourists. While we benighted Brits live with binge drinking, short opening hours and a spate of petty crime at chucking out time, the French and Germans supposedly enjoy moderation, sophistication and the legal right to get pleasantly drunk in the early hours of the morning.

So when the culture secretary, Tessa Jowell, announced her plans to liberalise pub licensing laws and let bars stay open 24 hours a day she claimed the move was "about the people's pleasures, enriching and improving the quality of people's lives."...The government's goal is to bring European drinking culture to the streets of Birmingham, Bradford and Bodmin...

There is also the obvious objection that Britain's binge drinking culture will not go away overnight. Extend bar opening hours in the UK and people may not choose to emulate the restraint of the French - they might just have more time to get drunk.

Opponents point out that things are done very differently in other European countries. In Paris, for example, there are quotas for the number of licensed venues that can operate - two of the city's boroughs have already reached their limit and can only resort to an official bartering system that enables them to get hold of extra slots from their neighbours. In fact, the city froze the number of licenses available for selling strong liquor in 1915.

Japan

Teenage drinking, along with teenage suicides, is also on the rise, especially among students who face cutthroat competition for entrance into overcrowded schools. Since 1990, the government has focused attention on the drinking problems of minors. According to one survey, 20 percent of Japanese high schoolers said they needed a drink once a week just to keep going on the academic treadmill. One-third of senior high-school students said they drank at least once a month.

Drinking is not a moral issue in Japan; there is no religious prohibition against alcohol, so there are no strictures to limit or help the Japanese slow their pace. Drunkenness is not considered sinful or even bad, although publicly it can arouse disapproval. In this homogeneous society, thinking is a group-oriented activity, and conformity is encouraged.

who cares? We all have done it

*technically* she isn't drinking it. Maybe it's a fake o.o;

Two beers later Harry is stick his magic wand in her virgin dumbledore. mm mm mm.

LOOK AT 98 BY SKULKER RETARDS!!!

#85 - please, don't go on... change your name from Spacca to SPARE_US. And if you want to sound snooty and British, you ought to make sure that you sound smart. Don't EVEN get me started on your second "sentence." Inforcing? "Some kind of intelligence" is not equivalent to actually being intelligent. Don't forget that the press draws a lot of parallels to G.W. Bush in comparison to your PM. Saying that all Americans are like Michael Moore is about as off-the-mark as saying that all Brits are like Kate Moss or Pete Doherty (shining examples, I must say). You are also REALLY egocentric if you think that most Americans are British in descent - there were other countries that came over, you know. At least you haven't polluted the gene pool here. Stay in England and keep Madonna and Gwennie over there with you.

what about 98? so now she cuts herself? thats a load of shit...

10th graders
40 percent reported drinking alcohol in the past month
25 percent reported binge drinking in the 2 weeks prior to the survey

Australia: A nationwide survey has revealed that more than 90% of young Australians have tried alcohol by the age of 14. It also found that many older teenagers regularly drink to excess.

And what's with the snoopy/wolf shirt? If this picture IS real, she needs a change of clothes.

I have a feeling this isn't her first time.

Number 61, wondering why 'you guys are all retarded.'

Aah, the sweet smell of American smugness and pseduo-intelligence (I am clever, aren't I, Oprah?) What lets you down is the fact your country voted George Bush in.. twice.

It's only a matter of time before shes putting something else in her mouth. Perhaps she will be cast in Brown Bunny 2.

#123- i'm sick of non-Americans blaming every single American for "voting Bush in twice" not everyone is a gung-ho pro-Bush Republican. and i'm not going to even condecend to your level and comment on being "psuedo-intelligent" because i guess i dont have the mental capacity to.
but i will say this: what a asshole!

in case you haven't noticed yet, this pic is a total fake. zoom in the wrist and you'll see the hand was pasted onto the picture

yup, i think this is also fake. if you can see, there are mango shakes on the table. and it looks like she's with family members. it would be ironic to be the only one having a booz on the table.

for all we know, she could be singing karaoke or something. this might be a product of those who have nothing better to do but tarnish celebrities reputations. technologies, these days... tsk tsk...

Doesn't the bottle seem a little too big? It's almost the same size as her head.

Ahh, if anyone wanted to shock me with a picture involving a European drinking, it would have to be Shane McGowan and a bottle of Yoo-Hoo or anything else that's under 100 proof.

i thought that 16 was legal age to drink in most places of europe

For those still wondering if the photo is real:

Hey guys. Forget this. Justin's got that girl from the OC, Willa Holland, who plays mischa bartons lost sister or something, drinking out of the JACK DANIELS bottle!!

ok who cares what or who emma watson is outside of hermione granger!!...shes like drnking corona....

for everyone who is saying that in Britain teens are more sensible about alcohol, because people dont make such a big thin out of it (or stuff along those lines) - britain has a HUGE teenage drinking problem amongstyoung teenagers, especially girls.

Why when someone drinks does it mean they will automatically be crack whores? I've been drinking beer since I was 17, and imagine this, nine years later, I've never even *seen* heroin. Have the people who say these things never had a sip of alcohol in their lives?

i´ve been drinking alcohol since I was 13 and im not an alcoholic today at 25 or a drug leader, please...

Just in case nobody noticed, the bathroom door has WC on it, so clearly she is in Europe (most likly England). And for those of you who said that it was illegal, there is no drinking age there.

Given that she's a European, there really isn't a problem there as far as her drinking. Hell I've seen people younger than her drinking there as have my parents, since they lived over there when they were stationed over there.
Personally, I think she looks hotter with drink. She has lost some cuteness since the first potter film but makup and growning into her body seems to be at least evening her out, even facially. Now all we need is a porno of her Harry Poke Her or something of the likes, I'd give it a look.

Who gives a shit? Its a Corona for fuck sake.

You'd be hard pressed to find ANY teenager who hasnt had a drink underage (yes mom and dad reading this, that means your kids too), celebraties are no different.

There are many news sites who have debunked the rumor that she was drinking it at all. It has been stated that she was posing. And even if she wasn't, who really cares? There are better things to be concerned with in life than the drinking habits of a high-profile actress who's doing what other teenagers her age have tried. It's immoral to sniff around trying to find this type of rumor anyhow. It's clear that her actions aren't a real tabloid, as it would have been rumored of in the press or else examined by the media, so why even bother going through an ordeal of picture-posting and rude commenting? Final Word: You shouldn't nose into the affairs of others, especially when it doesn't really matter.

Also, I agree with #51; this story is a total waste of space. It sounds as though you're posting it for the sole reason of criticizing Emma Watson.

is only her problem, we don´t have anything to do with it!
if she wants to drink, is only her problem!
well, if she becames like a Lindsay Lohan or a Paris Hilton it would be very dissapointing.
I`m fan of Emma!

Ow please, she's 15!!!
What is wrong with her drinking beer? Nothing!
It is only the USA that has a way to high drinking age. In Europe, where she lives, she's allowed you know. In Europe, I live in Belgium btw, you're allowed to drink alcohol from the year you turn 16. It's the same age you're allowed to go to parties. Let's see at her age I went to my first real party, I had my first beer, my first bacardi breezer...
Do you even know how relaxing it is to just go after a hard week of classes to go to the pub with your friends and have a beer.

don't you guys think, taht's just appl juice or something, because the same thing happened to my uncle, in New Year, it was in a wine bottle, and he started acting out like drunk, but it turned out it was only apple juice.
