Willie Nelson Releases Gay Cowboy Song
Willie Nelson has released "Cowboys Are Frequently, Secretly (Fond of Each Other)", which may be the first gay cowboy song by a major recording artist. The song, which debuted Tuesday on Howard Stern's satellite radio show, features choppy Tex-Mex style guitar runs and Nelson's deadpan delivery of lines like, "What did you think all them saddles and boots was about?" and "Inside every cowboy there's a lady who'd love to slip out" and "if sexiness was corn, your ass would be Iowa." Amazingly, I only made that last line up.
But what could be hotter than the combination of Willie Nelson and homo-erotic love? I had no idea country music was full of so much rampant homesexuality. I guess the ten-gallon hats and chaps should've tipped me off. That, and being hit on buy some guy calling himself the Bone Ranger.

Or may not be:

Someone's cashing in on Brokeback Mountain's success...

Willie just kept on tokin and talking. Figured something's gotta go his way and help him pay off the IRS.
That's one smokin injun who knows how to cash in.
Next you'll have Neil Young signing:
Wish we could be,
on bareback mountain
with our 501 buttholes on....
Yall get back to bareback mountain now, hear.

Oh joy, a new gay joke for the entire internet to overuse instead of Brokeback Mountain.

Finally music I can relate too. I am tired of ridin' and ropin' in utter shame. Thanks to Willie I can come out of the barn with my pants down, proud.
P.S. I love chaps (don't be afraid)

Damn, the first thing I thought of was Rev Horton Heat too.

This is almost as bad as when I found out Rob Halford from Judas Priest was gay.
But, then Willy was probably loaded when he wrote that song and still doesn't know what happened.

Think again Holly J. "Cowboys like smokey old pool rooms and rim jobs from school boys....little warm puppies and hitting up Chip N'Dale's late in the night"

Kinda gives new meaning to "Cowboys ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold".
No wonder mamas shouldn't let their babies grow up to be cowboys - sounds like it's a good way to get ass-raped.
Yee Haw.

it's just that cowboys have been beating up and killing homos for so long, they realized they're homos too. it's all in the Evolutionary Law of Gays, written by Darwin.

Willie didn't write this song, and he released it after one of his friends came out of the closet recently. Apparently, in the opinion of a 107.1 dj in Austin, it's willie's way of saying he's cool with his friend. I love WILLIE NELSON!!! coolest guy ever, especially in concert.

Hehehe...
"Bareback Mounting"..
For those of you who don't know what that is, google it... but not in image search.

With his long braids, I definitely see Willie as the catcher in any homo-erotic relationship.

In response to comment #8 - LMAO!
I think Willie is sad now that he was rejected by Jessica Simpson, he thought she was serious when she flirted with him in her video, "These Boots are Made for Walkin'" He now has gone the other way, WAAAAAAY other way now.
I was not mocking gays, I have some that are friends just in case some hater wants to try and jump all over my comment.

I bet every cowboy who has ever camped out with Willy, or smoked some bud with him on a hot summer's night is now shitting their pants. Because yes my friends, he was checking out your ass as you rolled up your sleeping bag. And now he's singing songs about it.
32. Posted by mnyc on February 15, 2006 09:54 PM
That song was originally sung by Pansy Division, a gay punk band from SF, on the album "Pileup" in 1995.

One song... "Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow-Up to be Cowboys"
Seeing him Friday at the SA rodeo, it will be embarrassing to witness hot homo-cowboy sex since I'll be with my dad.

#32 mnyc You are my new hero.I don't want to know how you knew about this song and the Pansy Division but I went to AMG to check it out and of course it's true, all hilariously true.
I would recomend the uninformed check out the track listing for "Pileup" . Way too funny.

And he has a front tooth gap. With this campy song he finally has ALL the ingredients for a gay icon.
But seriously, I love Willie. All you cynics can say he's cashing in via Broke Back Mountain but I appauld him as a voice speaking up against the sickening homophobia of our current president and his administration, (note: expection = Cheney)
Also Ladybug is my idol for her(?) post.

Not a funny comment here- I'm from Tennessee and am around a lot of real cowboys, none that are gay. My husband wears cowboy hats, boots, chaps (when it is cold- they do serve a purpose) , the whole git up... however, this song and movie may make him decide to wear a size larger wranglers....but really, Willie is just liberal and props to him for making some homophobs realize real men can be ok with homosexuality....

I'm okay with gay guys, as long as they don't touch. I heard that shit is contagious.

I left out the word "me" after "touch" on purpose. I didn't want any jokes about it...I'll just keep touching myself thank you very much!

49. Posted by Go Sip on February 16, 2006 09:56 AM
A gap in his teeth, grease in his braids
He is just a Cowboy who wants to get laid
Not by a Cowgirl but by a Cowboy
He wants to "make naughty" and use some sex toys,
In reference to #40, Cowboys like it hard,
They dont use no KY, lube or pig lard
As I mentioned before in comment number eight,
He likes his braids pulled, he thinks it feels great.
He likes to fondle the knob on his saddle,
He likes it when you give his gray flabby ass a paddle,
Whether it is man or woman he just craves the touch,
He cant "F" his horse cause that pony weighs too much.
FEMINEM

I agree that "bone my backside with ur mountain" opened the door for willie...but I think this song is a confirmation of his secret love affair with Wendy's founder Dave Thomas. And you all thought that "Wendy" was Dave's daughter..nope...it is really Willie. Just don't ask about the chili. please.
55. Posted by IRMV on February 16, 2006 01:29 PM
in regards to all the geniuses saying this is cashing in on brokeback mountain...
he wrote and recorded this song in 1981.

To 55 ...okay, but why put it out now? Why not then?
57. Posted by TheLusciousDeluxe on February 16, 2006 01:51 PM
Correction: why play it up now is what I mean. Although I did read that his manager or someone close to him is gay, so it may be also in support of his long time friend.
58. Posted by bafongu on February 16, 2006 05:53 PM
Willie Nelson is a fag, always has been a fag and is using gay the cowboy movie to out himself. He's TOTALLY irrelevent now, and this is the only we that wrinkled old faggot can get any press. How sad the whole fucking scene is. Trying to shove fags and cocks down everyone's throats. Why no lesbo songs? Cause they don't need no stinking public approval. Faggy, bitchy she-males need to prance and act like flamers and expect everyone to see them as cute. They make me puke.
59. Posted by Hara on February 17, 2006 04:16 AM
Bafongu, she-males do NOT prance! They gallop wild and free and in a manner that deserves your respect thank you very much.
Why ARE there no lesbo songs? Probably because they don't do fun stuff like wear butt-less chaps or sparkly sunglasses while playing mirror pianos.
60. Posted by Hara on February 17, 2006 04:17 AM
Oh, and Screw Jessica Simpson. I think Willie's kind of hot.
61. Posted by fickleasfashion on February 17, 2006 02:23 PM
i didnt read all the comments so maybe someone mentioned it already, but nelson isn't the original author of the song. a man gave a friend of nelson's a copy, and that friend passed it on to nelson, 20 or so years ago. nelson had humorously played the song for people while in the tourbus, for visiting friends, etc, but felt now, with the release of brokeback mountain, that it would be a perfect time to up and record it.

You know what's funny? When I open up the link to the story on Willie Nelson featured on Eonline immediately I see a picture of Ryan Seacrest.
Coincidence? I think not.
64. Posted by Jaron on February 20, 2006 09:43 AM
Ok people, This is how it is...The song was written in 1981 by a friend of Willie Nelson...It wasn't released back "then" because, well, look at the reaction by releasing it in this day and age. David Anderson(Willies Manager) is gay and YES to whoever said it, it IS Willie's way of saying, Hey, I don't care if you are gay or not. The music video will be out shortly after april. We start shooting the video on march 17th. And NO this has nothing to do with Brokeback Mountain. Although It was a good time 'cause poeple need to know that there are plenty of fags out there, Many of them are Married STILL to women and STILL go to the gay bars while their wives think they are "out" with the guys. And the fags who have children....but still haven't came out for fear of people. We are out there and its starting to scare the ones who ARE still in the closet...

I heard the song on Whad'Ya Know today, and it was HYSTERICAL!
The author of the song is a musican named Ned Sublette (http://www.afrocubaweb.com/nedsublette.htm), a Texan musician who's lived in New York for many years. Ned was also on Whad'Ya Know, and he said he had two influences for the song:
* The Urban Cowboy phenomenon of 1981 (a movie with some famous scenes of John Travolta and Debra Winger on a bar-based bronco)
* A cowboy-themed gay bar in New York City
Willy Nelson first heard the song in 1988 and has been talking about performing it ever since. This month seemed to be the right time and place. Makes me want to run right out and buy a Willy Nelson CD (it's certainly possible Willy could be bi, but if you think he's gay you really haven't been paying attention!).
Sad there are still so many homophobes out there, but that's life. Maybe some day they'll grow up.
