Britney Spears is a great mom
I'm not sure what Britney Spears is doing with her baby in her lap while she's driving. I assume she's planning to eat him. Or maybe she's letting him drive. Which is cute and all, at least until the accident where Britney and the steering wheel combine to turn him into a pancake. If brains were french fries, Britney couldn't fill a Happy Meal.

Seriously. This picture could probably send her to jail. No joke.

You need a license to drive but any dumb can have a kid. She is dumber than a box of rocks.
3. Posted by Realistic on February 7, 2006 09:39 AM
This is more of a necessity. The back is full of K-Fed's subwoofers.
4. Posted by thebor on February 7, 2006 09:42 AM
My jaw is on the floor, next thing you know the kid will be having play dates with wacko jacko. The human gene pool has just been knocked down a full peg, A FULL PEG I TELL YOU!
5. Posted by jennifer11 on February 7, 2006 09:42 AM
I hope that photo DOES send her to jail.
What an fucking moron to put her child in danger like that.
6. Posted by ESQ on February 7, 2006 09:42 AM
She is probably pulling a "Rainman" only driving on the driveway on Sundays. Then I think Rainman burnt his brother with hot water in the tub, which is why he was shipped off to the institution.
I see white trash people do this all the time, pile all the kids in the Chevette, while the kids jump all over the car, driving way over the speed limit with the music blaring, cigarette hanging' from the side of her mouth and cursing at the kids saying something like, "All of yous better shut up and sit the fuck down while I am driving before I pull this car over and fetch me a switch on your asses!"
7. Posted by gossipmonger on February 7, 2006 09:44 AM
I just watched this on the news ,they showed all the photos... This was on a California highway even, not some quiet side street! If this doesnt get her in shit, there is NO justice in the world. In Canada (at least Ontario) a child up to 9 YEARS OLD must be in a proper booster seat...
8. Posted by crazydelicious on February 7, 2006 09:45 AM
yes! now i have the proof i need to send this bitch to jail. sorry sean preston.
9. Posted by ESQ on February 7, 2006 09:45 AM
With all the times we have seen K-Tard going to the MAC machine you would think he would dance his ass over to the nearest Babies"R"Us to purchase a fuckin' car seat!
10. Posted by Leonie on February 7, 2006 09:46 AM
She's got an explanation for it already. She told People magazine that the paparazzi were harrassing her (like, omgwtf!).
She had the kid on her lap while Bodyguard went to get coffee or something. When he got back, the paparazzi were closing in on them, she still had her son on her lap, but felt she needed to get away from there as quickly as possible, for the safety of both her and her son.
Whatever.
11. Posted by bone_daddio on February 7, 2006 09:48 AM
she should have pointed at her head last week and said, "Look, it's filled with No. 2!"
12. Posted by playahater101 on February 7, 2006 09:48 AM
Here in NY a kid is supposed to be in a booster seat until they are 4'9". She's an idiot. I really hope someone educates her on the proper care of a child. And I hope she gets arrested. Any moron knows that you have to have your child in a carseat. If she got into an accident that poor baby would fly through the window. Or get squished in between her and her steering wheel.
13. Posted by ACG on February 7, 2006 09:49 AM
What you don't see is that the baby is holding her open can of Pabst...
14. Posted by gossipmonger on February 7, 2006 09:50 AM
Leonie,
You should have seen the pics they showed on TV. There is NO WAY that is true, she's got a huge grin on her face in a couple of them. If she was in such a panic, you'd see it on her face, intead of the dopey "laa de daa, look Sean, you'll soon be able to drive mommy and daddy around when we get too drunk" look she has in these pics.
15. Posted by kr8ie on February 7, 2006 09:51 AM
Ok, you guys have got it all wrong - she's got one hand on the steering wheel right, you can't see her other hand, but I guarantee she's got a marlboro light in it. She HAD to have the baby in her lap. Who else is going to hold her cheeto's for her?
Seriously though. She's a freaking loser. she should go to jail. If she doesn't, that's ridiculous. Anyone else would go to jail, or have their kid taken away.
16. Posted by southtexasgal on February 7, 2006 09:52 AM
I can not believe she did that.
That is so dangerous!
The babys' head is kind of slumping forward.
17. Posted by playahater101 on February 7, 2006 09:55 AM
This is her quote from people.com
"Today I had a horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi while I was with my baby. Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger. I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us, and took photos of us which were sold to the media. I love my child and would do anything to protect him."
She'd do ANYTHING to protect him, especially hold him on her lap while she was being chased by photographers. That's really safe. She could have taken 2 minutes to put him back and REALLY make sure he was safe. She must have rocks for brains.

Stupid people are fun.
19. Posted by illflux on February 7, 2006 09:56 AM
Of *course* she's not going to get in trouble. She's famous, remember? Famous people get to do anything they want, even endanger their own children, and nothing happens. They're national treasures. We cannot jeopardize that precious limited resource.
20. Posted by ESQ on February 7, 2006 09:58 AM
What kills it is that douchebag sitting next to her, not having ANY commen sense either by not securing the baby in a car seat himself in the event the paparazzi following them.
21. Posted by m2k on February 7, 2006 10:00 AM
Oh, great. Next, Paris and Lindsey will both have accessory babies to drive around with on their laps.

She is the biggest loser in the universe.
23. Posted by amystitz on February 7, 2006 10:07 AM
^^which goes to show her story is bs...he's on the phone (if not secruing the baby, shouldn't he be holding him rather than the driver?), and she has the window rolled down...people always roll down the window to keep out danger
24. Posted by SAPPY14 on February 7, 2006 10:11 AM
on a lighter (and perhaps inappropriate) note, if you pretend that britney's arm is actually the baby's arm driving the car it's kind of funny. just a thought.
25. Posted by anymart on February 7, 2006 10:12 AM
I don't care if my hair was on fire and I was being chased by a crazed band of monkeys...my kids would never be allowed to ride in a car without car seats. A minor fender bender and the little baby is toast. This girl is clearly not a responsible parent and isn't getting the help and support she needs from her husband, family and staff. It's like Michael Jackson's dangling the baby over the hotel balcony all over again...
26. Posted by Geno on February 7, 2006 10:17 AM
Even a fender bender might make the airbag go off & kill or seriously injure the baby. That poor kid.
27. Posted by irisheyes73 on February 7, 2006 10:19 AM
Oh, come now. How can we expect her to know that this is wrong?
I mean the WARNING for "death by airbag" for infants and children in the front seat is on the passenger side sun visor, NOT the driver's side (dumb car companies), plus she'd be required to READ it.
We must remember this is the girl who doesn't let just "anyone" hold her baby, only her mom and a few others have that privledge. I guess car seats and paid bodyguards aren't capable of handling the complexities of Sean's safety.
Obviously, only SuperBrit can do it, drive cars one handed, hold babies in her lap and fend off not only the paparazzi, but airbags and steering wheels. She's an AMAZING example of how one woman can do it ALL.
Dumb, dumb, dumb...and she was concerned about the damage Kevin would inflict with the ear piercing idea.
28. Posted by Sheva on February 7, 2006 10:19 AM
Hey Brit, no point in using a nice lap when there's a fine car roof available with natural air and all.
Can you handle my truth?
Dumb bitch.

35. Posted by A2Bcom on February 7, 2006 10:30 AM
Some women are born mothers, then others, like this skank, shouldn't be allowed within a thousand feet of children. Well, at least she isn't dangling the baby out of a 3rd story window. ;)
36. Posted by Rylie on February 7, 2006 10:34 AM
Oh yeah! Let's run from the paparazzi Princess Di style, only lets put the baby in the drivers seat so when the airbag goes off, he get's suffocated first! That is, if the air bag actually goes off, otherwise is little baby head with be smashed in from the impact of the steering wheel ...mmm... baby guts. Great idea! Britney fails at life.
37. Posted by gr8flgrl2002 on February 7, 2006 10:34 AM
I’m sure glad little Sean didn’t decide to become wiggly or throw a fit while she was driving. Of course he wouldn’t purposely cause an accident (duh), but my five month old can put up a heck of a fuss and wouldn’t care if we were driving down the highway not.
Totally irresponsible Brit.
38. Posted by Belle on February 7, 2006 10:40 AM
This is ridiculous *beyond words*.. Just.. I don't know, I seriously can't put exactly how I feel into words. This has to be illegal, in fact I'm pretty sure in most states it is, like children under eight or something can't legally sit up front.. or *in the driver's seat*!
If her story was true and she was left in the car while paparazzi surrounded, here's an idea: LOCK THE DOORS AND ROLL UP THE WINDOWS. What are the chances one of them is going to run over to Starbucks, grab a patio chair, and ram it through your window to attack your baby? Seriously? Once the windows and doors are locked, that's a great oppurtunity to just crawl into the backseat and put your baby in it's chair (I may be over-estimating her, maybe the maybe does't have a freaking chair).
The sickening thing is she could be smoking pot on the highway, with the baby on her lap, making quick stops and having the baby slam it's head into the steering wheel every five seconds, and putting out her joint on the baby's head, and the world would just smile and nod. Why can celebrities do no wrong? What ever happened to natural selection? The creatures who are the most stupid aren't supposed to survive..
39. Posted by Belle on February 7, 2006 10:42 AM
Eek, I said "(I may be over-estimating her, maybe the maybe does't have a freaking chair)".. that should be "maybe the baby doesn't have a freaking chair".

She was driving away from the swarms of paparazzi. Why they still bother following her I'll never know. Oh yeah, because you losers are still interested in disecting every little thing about her and her life. Not that anything you read about her is actually true. She gets hounded and stalked as you sit and comment about every picture taken of her here on Superficial. She was actually protecting her child.

45. Posted by amystitz on February 7, 2006 10:58 AM
41...you've GOT to be joking! I could normally give a rat's ass about britney, but this baby's life is in far more danger than if her locked, secured car (with the windows up) is swarmed by photogs while she put the baby in its seat and her bodyguard calls the cops. her story is obviously a cheap lie to cover for her dangerous stupidity. Once away, at least give him the baby...and if she's scurrying away in escape, why isn't the window up? isn't that the first thing you do when you're trying to keep someone/ something out of your car. She needs to be charged with a crime...at least reckless endangerment.

I am SO OVER Brit & Kevin and their poor fat hillbilly baby and them making big fat poor decisions. They each shared one brain cell and that died of loneliness a long, long, long time ago. I can't believe this story comes as any suprise to anyone. They belong together and they are absolute trash. EOS!
48. Posted by playahater101 on February 7, 2006 11:01 AM
Did anyone else notice she isn't wearing her seatbelt either? And she's supposedly being chased by photographers? You'd think, since they're so aggressive, that she would take every precaution to protect everyone. Then again, that would take thinking and we all know she's uncapable of that. She's just asking for it.
49. Posted by veronica on February 7, 2006 11:02 AM
lol at #41... what if she had gotten into a wreck even if the paparazzi weren't supposedly chasing her? yeah, she's really protecting her kid. either way, you don't drive with a baby in your lap.

I have a kid that age and that little bastard can't even walk, much less drive a car. How come no one is commenting on how smart this kid is?? Driving at that age? Incredible, absolutely incredible. Brittany should be beaming with pride over this- I know I am. You go Sean Preston. Burn rubber young man. NASCAR is expecting you.

Em, not to run screaming from the bandwagon or anything, but is she actually driving, or parked?
52. Posted by playahater101 on February 7, 2006 11:10 AM
In the article I read on people.com, she said she was driving. And that she had to quickly get away from the paparrazi.
53. Posted by thisone on February 7, 2006 11:11 AM
PKC, you are as stupid as she is then if you think driving with a little infant in your lap is making him SAFER. If she or anyone with her was thinking about the baby, they would have put him in the back. Forget any minor fender bender, all she has to do is make a hard break and that baby can get head trauma. My son is a few weeks older the SPF and while he can kind of sit up, he's still really wiggly and can't hold his balance for long. Takes me five minutes TOPS to but my son in his car seat and my car is only a sedan. So how the hell can ANYONE think that handling and baby in your lap while driving is making him ANY SAFER than what the papparazzi might do?
IDIOTS!!!
Yes, Waney, she is driving - she's admitted it to People magazine.

#51 can’t tell from this picture, but poke around the net, there are wilder pictures out there. Pics where little SP’s arms are flailing and the background is blurry (photoshop?) and Brit does look like she’s trying to make a get away.

My mom used to take care of a kid that their Mom did this too and he wasn't a french fry he was a vegetable. Sad. I think it's time for social services to make a visit. Umm I thought she was picky about who held him?? But putting him at risk this way is ok?? God they are both crazy, what is it? DOUCHE BAGS!!
58. Posted by Spindoc on February 7, 2006 11:22 AM
She will NEVER get into trouble for this. How many times do we read reports of say Lindsay Lohan in some club drinking Vodka, but the club never gets sited, nor does Lindsay. Kate Moss's boyfriend gets sited for the coke that she cut up and gave to him but she doesn't. I swear DA's can be the biggest star fuckers.
59. Posted by marmar on February 7, 2006 11:24 AM
Yes she is very stupid, but can you really think that if you or I did that with a child, we would be sent straight off to jail? By all means, slap on the wrist and don't do it again but it's hardly a case of "She's a celeb and gets away with everything".
60. Posted by tori on February 7, 2006 11:25 AM

61. Posted by gr8flgrl2002 on February 7, 2006 11:25 AM
Effective January 1, 2002, California’s new booster seat law mandates children be secured in a child safety or booster seat until they are six years of age or weigh 60 pounds...
Violation of this new law, which involves the following sections in the California Vehicle Code (CVC), will bring fines of $100 for a first offense and $250 thereafter.
hmmm. not exactly a stiff penalty.

Keep the "social services" talks coming.
If Michael Jackson was ok'd to raise his children after the baby dangling (...let alone the other lovely things he's done), I'm almost sure Brit can "get away" from this one.

And protecting her child... you know what would protect him more than holding him in her lap? PUTTING HIM IN A CAR SEAT! Celebrities should not get a free pass for their bad behavior. I surprised he's not strapped to the roof. Letting a child ride in a car without being in a prper seat (especially up front like that) is so dangerous she should be ashamed of herself and should be reported to CPS STAT. And her excuse-LAME.

I've read comments here and there from people defending Britney. That's almost as horrifying and disgusting as Britney's own actions. I don't have kids and even I know how unsafe it is for babies and kids to be not secured in a car. What the hell happened to common sense???

Just want to thank all the posters. I spent the past hour trying to submit forms online (I heart the internet) and was able to keep myself entertained while waiting by refreshing this page. Agree with everyone that she's a colossal f***wit. As a health care provider, it's also nice to see everyone get hepped up about carseat use.
81. Posted by No_Angel on February 7, 2006 01:01 PM
Holy shit, she is stupid, stupid, stupid.
Common sense tells you that in an accident that airbag is going to break your child's neck and probably kill the poor thing. That's assuming the stupid moron can read, which is doubtful.
I hope that California Child Protection services and the police see this and toss her stupid ass in jail.
God help those K-Fool children.
82. Posted by Jewbacca on February 7, 2006 01:01 PM
Kevin must be in the back smoking a blunt and Britney doesn't want Kevin blowing hits in the baby's face so she decided to put the baby right in front of the airbag so, if she does crash the baby will be killed, not her. You can always have more!
83. Posted by Catscratch on February 7, 2006 01:22 PM

If Britney was really frightened by the paparazzi, then she should have just blasted her hubby's "PapoZao" from the car stereo. The paparazzi would have all run away screaming with their fingers jammed in their ears. Then she would have never had to drive off with her baby in her lap in the first place. Dumb bitch.
90. Posted by Mariev on February 7, 2006 01:59 PM
Why it's always the Paparazzi? Its always about it. It is an excuse to put her baby like this cuz she's afraid of aggressive paparazzi? (they do something? No.)... protect my baby... bastard! Go to Police and ask them to take your permit.
91. Posted by A2Bcom on February 7, 2006 02:00 PM
I get a kick out of the people who wonder what's going to happen to her this. She lives in America where they have different laws for different social classes. If she were some poor smuck, she'd be tossed into jail and her kid taken. If she were of average wealth she'd probably be ordered to take some child caring course after being investigated. If she were just rich, it probably just be a fine or a light swat on the ass, but she's a celeb and in America that makes her royalty. She could have the kid strapped on the hood of the cra using him as a hood ornament and she'd still be untouchable!
92. Posted by Allie D. on February 7, 2006 02:13 PM
Instead of running from a "horrifying" encounter with the paparazzi, it looks more like she and K-Fed are trying to figure out if they want to eat at the Church's Chicken or the Jack in the Box.

In her defense, if you change "paparazzi" to "zombies" that's some scary shit. I'd probably toss a baby in the damn glove box to get away from a "throng" of zombies!
What is a group of zombies called anyway? Is it just "zombies"? Or is it a "gaggle of zombies"?

99. Posted by davina85 on February 7, 2006 02:34 PM
mrschickee why don't you call them? Get off your damn soapbox and get a life, seriously. You're pathetic. She made a mistake, she's a moron, we get it. Everyday around the world children are starving and being abused, in some areas even raped. I'd say little Sean has it pretty good compared to a lot of infants. Britney is immature, but this is her first baby, she's still learning. Leave the authorities to investigate the children who are really in danger. I love making fun of the celebs as much as the next person but when people are lame enough to research contact information for Child Welfare Services, that's just sad.
100. Posted by jennifer11 on February 7, 2006 02:41 PM
in my humble opinion, not properly securing your child in an automobile is abusive.
granted, it's not as bad as beating or sexual assaulting them, but you are putting them directly in harm's way.
it's abuse.
if i were driving down the street and i saw this- i'd call the police. it's child endangerment... plain and simple.

103. Posted by Tracie on February 7, 2006 02:47 PM
Davina85, the difference between Sean Preston and the millions of other children you bring up is that, solely by means of birth, Sean is a CELEBRITY. Britney Spears is a CELEBRITY. As disgusting as it may be, the reality is a huge segment of the population admires, respects, and even tries to emulate celebrities. Far too many are not well-educated or simply savvy enough to understand that just because someone is famous, doesn't mean they aren't God-like. A Google search takes all of 2 seconds. Put the critisim back where it belongs, on Bridiot, (JMHO).
104. Posted by LaydeeBug on February 7, 2006 02:48 PM
OK, I just read davinas comment and here's my rebuttal. She's 24 or 25, and you don't have to BE a mother to know that it is JUST FUCKING STUPID AND CARELESS to seat the baby in the front. "She made a mistake" huh? Just how many times do you think she has been driving around like that? You know what, forget it...OH and Fuck off!
105. Posted by M@ce on February 7, 2006 02:52 PM
I hate to be so harsh, but isn't it in everyones best interest if the baby is killed in an auto accident? At least it will have a shot at being reincarnated with parents who aren't retarded ass clowns and K-Tard and Shitney can be carted off to prison where we will all be spared their stupidity. Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if the baby tried to jump out the car window on his own.
106. Posted by Tracie on February 7, 2006 02:52 PM
Oops...*criticism...
And also, poor little Sean Preston has been trotted out by Mom in front of the cameras and $old to the highest bidder since birth. Poor kid doesn't even stand a chance at living a halfway typical life.
107. Posted by aura on February 7, 2006 02:53 PM

Re: Comment #105...
Whoa M@ce, that is beyond harsh. What happens to SPF has no impact whatsoever on my life or anyone elses. Given his parents, I highly doubt he's going to bring about world peace.
That being said, it is hardly in his best interest to be killed, or maimed because of his parent's stupidity, and that should be the only concern here. Yeah, it'd be nice to think he'd be reincarnated to better parents, but there's no guarantee. Besides, karmically, it'd be a lot better to wish his parents would wake up and smell the coffee, get their shit together and start taking care of him in the here and now - for his sake and theirs.
110. Posted by devynzoe on February 7, 2006 03:10 PM
It always makes much more sense to drive as fast as you can down the highway with your child on your lap to escape the photo hounds rather than taking the 15 seconds it would have taken to place him in the car seat, what is the problem here people?
The level of stupidity is unbelievable!!!

And here is the brillent one's response....she sure looks terrified doesn't she..I see a bit of a smile.....
"I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger," Spears said in statement released late Monday.
"I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us," she said. "I love my child and would do anything to protect him."
115. Posted by Wild Rose on February 7, 2006 03:42 PM
How old was Britney when Princess Diana died? 14 or somethin'? There is no way in hell that any girl so obsessed with fame wouldn't be aware of the fact you NEVER speed away from paparazzi without your seltbelt on--and to not ensure her child was safe was so friggin'idiotic. Forget the fine; who cares what kinda charge she would face? The fact is you don't play with your kid's life like that EVER! If she had one iota of brain matter in that vacuous head of hers, she'd realize that!!
116. Posted by kw on February 7, 2006 03:43 PM
her excuse is so ridiculous its not even a defense. "I was so afraid for my babies safety that I put him in much MUCH worse, life-threatening danger." ??? WHA???
I am not pretending to understand what it is to be hounded daily by photographers, but it simply defies all logic. At the Very least why couldn't her bobyguard hold the baby? Simply changing the radio station or lighting a cigarette can cause a split second destraction and cause a horrible accident, especially at high speed, imagine the dangers a baby creates and the danger to the baby itself. This is mind-blowing. Was she being chased by a murderer?
And if she WAS seriously that afraid, then something needs to be done about 'papparazzi' seriously.
Last comment, as insanely stupid and dangerous as I think driving with your baby on your lap is, from what the other commentors said regarding fines, I think 'throwing her in jail and taking the baby away' is not only excessively harsh, but doesn't even sound remotely an option.
117. Posted by ~S.Starr~ on February 7, 2006 03:48 PM
COMMENT 112:
I read that and this is what I found retarded...The Paparazzi said "The TV show 'EXTRA' has obtained the following statement from X17, the company that took the picture: "These pictures were taken in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior. We believe the pictures speak for themselves."
Ya...she is a moron...but the paparazzi is never peaceful...when is chasing somone down the freeway and snapping photos of them while they are driving considered exhibiting no aggressive behavior.
118. Posted by thisone on February 7, 2006 03:52 PM
Forget how old she was when Dian died, the accidents with Reese Withersppon and Lindsay Lohan and the papparazzi happened recently.
There are plenty of people who DON'T have kids who know that it's stupid to have a kid in your lap while driving. So the "it's her first child" or "she's a young mother" excuse is lame.
I think I'm becoming more outraged that people are even TRYING to defend her for this than what she actually did. She could have left SPF in the car on a hot day with the windows rolled up while she went shopping and people would STILL defend her azz.
If she's that afraid, hire better security.

Britney Spears is the stupidest bitch to ever walk the face of this earth and should be bitch slapped for not strapping that baby in. I would NEVER EVER let my children ride unrestrained in a moving vehicle, especially on a highway!!!
Too bad all that money that the naive little tweens spend on her records can't buy a decent car seat.
And notice how the body guard is on his cell phone *heres a thought people* why doesn't he get in the back seat and strap the baby in, or let him drive and do it yourself retardo.
And this should be a BIG FREAKIN SURPRISE folks. She is a backwoods hick and married an even bigger backwoods hick. God save the country from another Brit/K-Fed bundle of joy. Poor Sean Preston was doomed from the moment of conception.....

Doesn't look like she's in for much...
Via AFP:
Asked about the case, Los Angeles police said they would not be pursuing Spears.
"We didn't attend the incident and the baby wasn't hurt. I don't think the DA (district attorney) is going to open an investigation," a department spokesman told AFP.
Several Hollywood stars have complained in recent months of incidents with paparazzi, including Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon.
In reaction, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, himself formerly a top movie star, agreed to toughen laws regarding people who aggressively take photographs or recordings.
The new rules came into effect on January 1.
The car-crash death in August 1997 of Britain's Princess Diana as she was fleeing paparazzi in Paris highlighted the issue of aggressive photographers who take lucrative, intimate and embarrassing pictures of celebrities.
131. Posted by hermanita on February 7, 2006 05:16 PM
Well so what if she goes to jail? She's not gonna stay there; she's just gonna pay to get out. Just like Wacko Jacko did. There IS NO justice in the world. If there was Britney wouldn't be 10 times richer then most people, who are much smarter and nicer then her ...and now most are better looking aswell. So why is she so rich and famous? No...I wanna know!!!
132. Posted by playahater101 on February 7, 2006 05:26 PM
OK, so we all know that the paparrazi are terrible and hound these people. It doesn't erase the fact that it would have taken her at MOST 5 minutes to buckle her son back into his seat. Instead she wasn't thinking of his safety and decided to drive off and give them even more of a reason to chase her. The paparrazi would have had pics of her buckling her son in instead of pics of her being an idiot.

138. Posted by christieb on February 7, 2006 06:04 PM
I think this a simple matter of her having a superman complex. She thinks that because she is rich and famous nothing bad could ever happen to her - and certainly not her baby. Unfortunately, I think that it would take a tragedy caused by her stupidity for her to realize that money/fame can't buy invincibility.
Per Keanu in Parenthood - you need a license to drive a car or to catch a fish, but they let any dumb asshole be a parent.
In this case it took two!!

Has anyone really looked at the picture closely.
It is obvious the car is not moving.
First the passenger side door is open.
Second, unless you have a really good camera with very high shutter speed the scenery outside the car would be a blur and her hair would be blowing since her window is down.
Why do you people not notice such obvious stuff?

Oh Ya...and she ISNT GOING TO JAIL (unfortunately)!!! If OJ & Robert Blake got off for murder and Michael Jackson got off for molesting little boys (suck it all you MJ lovers...he did it and you know it)then mis Britney Spears isn't even going to get as much as fine.

Maybe it is b/c SHE HAS ALREADY ADMITTED TO DRIVING ON THE FWY W/ HER BABY IN THE CAR!!!! Hence the statement she released saying WHY she did it!
143. Posted by christieb on February 7, 2006 06:40 PM
excuse me cisco, but why would britney be "defending her actions" if the car never moved. Her publicist would have simply said that the car was parked. Instead they make a statement saying that she felt her baby's life was in danger. I'm sure that publicist would have LOVED it if the car never moved, but since it did, she's working overtime now to put a spin on it!!
144. Posted by Cisco on February 7, 2006 06:41 PM
I don't care what the moron has coped to, the picture is not her in a car that is moving.

I love how if you dont like a celebrity, people automatically think you're jealous. I dont like Britney because she is talentless and disgusting. I'd much rather be me than her, I'm not jealous one bit. At least I'm not miserable living with a greasy deadbeat husband.
Britney has a lot of growing up to do. Hopefully she'll learn from this and realize that babies belong in car seats.
162. Posted by ratadechapinero on February 7, 2006 09:39 PM
The only thing I can come up with is that Britney thinks her son is some sort of toy, like a Cabbage Patch Kid. That would explain why she doesn't want to 'lend' it to anybody, not even the person sitting beside her.
163. Posted by rachel on February 7, 2006 09:56 PM

The comments about being a young mother and her making a "mistake" are BEYOND ridiculous. She's not some 12 year old who "doesn't know how" she got knocked up in the first place, she's in her mid 20's!!
BEFORE you leave the hospital, new parents are shown the proper way to restrain a child in a car seat, told the reasons why and they will even GIVE you one for free if you can't afford to buy one. WHY?? Because its THAT important!!
So nothing happened THIS time, what if she hit a curb while she was trying to "get away??" What then? Would we be hearing her sob about how it's everyone's fault BUT hers that Sean was injured? That she didn't know it was dangerous?
If my daughter who doesn't yet weigh 90 lbs. isn't supposed to be in the front passenger side because the airbag could seriously injure/kill her, what does Britney think an airbag and steering wheel are going to do to a 12-15 lbs. baby?
She's a waste and I hope her mother slaps some sense into her before something bad really does happen to her son.

She needed a buffer in case she got into an accident.

hmmm, i'd rather talk about S.Starr...
She's Erectifying! ;D
But I don;t understand, I mean, we know she shouldn't be a mom, and Kevin shouldn't be a dad...why are we still surprised when this crap happens? If anything though it was just a flaw in judgement.

The excuse that she is too young to know better is just absolute.. crap. The average babysitter is probably fourteen years old, there is probably no girl who never owned a baby doll at one point or another in their childhood.. and I swear to goodness, they make working strollers and baby car seats just for dolls. Baby dolls wouldn't sell if females didn't have natural maternal instincts... Britney riding with her baby on her lap should be ridiculous by anyone's standards.. The fact anyone could defend her is frightening, I fear for your children! For the record, I'm still young, and the second I saw this picture I was gaping in shock.
Whoever wants to say that we all are envious or ugly or over-reactive can go ahead, at least our children will have common sense.

#123 lol!
At first I thought it was the baby that was driving, because of the way the arm is positioned

Just to follow up on my #19 above, here is this HUGE surprise:
No Charges Expected in Britney Incident
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060208/ap_en_mu/people_britney_spears
Would charges be filed if she was a "normal" citizen? Probably.
