Courtney Love is a "cool mom"
Courtney Love's 13-year-old daughter Frances Bean Cobain has spoken out - saying it is difficult having a "cool mom" and accusing the media of spreading lies about her mom. She told I-D magazine: "Sometimes I wish I wasn't so much at home alone and that it wasn't about nannies and chauffeurs and all that stuff. I get to meet everyone I want and I get quite a lot of attention because of it, you know? But of course it hurts when you see a lot of lies about her in tabloids and then you think, 'Well, it's not that cool to have a cool mom.' I don't like seeing my mom upset. No one does, right?"
Frances seems like a nice enough girl. It's kinda inspiring to see her defend a woman who spends most of her time either a) drunk, b) high, c) naked, d) dressing monkeys in bikinis, or e) all of the above. This really surprises me, because I figured any daughter of Courtney's would either be sold into prostitution or so strung out on drugs that she'd look like a cross between Keith Richards and Sloth. Only with boobs. And then I'd call her Sloobs.

Wait, Courtney Love's kid is still alive? I thought got high/drunk and ate her daughter last September. Didn't that happen or did I just assume it would happen for so many years that I imagined it?
No, that couldn't be it. The girl has to be over ten by now and I'm sure Courtney couldn't go a whole decade without killing and eating her daughter in the middle of a coke-and-Jim Beam-fueled bender.
RIP little Francis Bean. We hardly knew you before your mother deep-fried you in chocolate sauce.

Cool in that incoherent, passed out sort of way.

She's a cute kid. I feel sorry for her because of the years of emotional damage that must have come with living with Courtney Love.

Is it possible to sell a 13-year-old for crackrocks? How much crack would Frances Bean go for? She looks like her dad, so I'm going to say not a lot.

Is it just me, or does FB look like a pre-eating disorder Olsen?

Hey Francis, no offense ok, I know you are trying to defend your mom and all that, but we have all Heard her rants on the radio and seen various pictures of her. All it took for me to realize that instead of lying about her the media was being kind to her was to listen to a 15 min interview with her on a radio show, she changed the subject about 130 times, exibited paranoia and was basically your all around speed freak. Nice try, but try to say it with me....Mommy is a crazy Ho

Courtney Love is fair game, but her daughter is just a kid and did not ask for this notoriety. Lay off her.......

REPLY: The girl is talking to the media. She's made herself fair game. I don't have any desire to take shots at her, nor do I think anyone else does -- aside from her mother, who I am quite sure has taken shots at her and occasionally drinks shots off of her. But the girl is already talking to the media. She's making herself fair game.

Hi SuperSpence. You obviously have a great sense of humour and I usually enjoy yr posts but in my opinion this girl is still a child.....and obviously does not have a father (deceased) or wise mother (Courtney!) to guide her effectively. I think having Courney Love as a mother is tough enough without people making fun of her situation, even if she is (unfortunately) talking to the media and trying to defend her family.

I see your point. No decent person feels comfortable taking shots at a young girl. I don't think anyone will do it. I think most of us are shocked the girl has been able to learn to speak English. If alive, I assumed she'd been chained to a radiator in the basement of a crack house and communicated with an intricate series of grunts and hair-tossing.
She needs to stop talking to the media, though. It only makes the parent seem more pathetic when the child has to be dragged in front of media to vouch for her mother's soundness of mind and character. She needs a sane adult around to tell her these things. Normally, that would be her mother's job, but in this case I think the mailman will have to suffice.

FB sounds like a remarkably coherent kid, given her circumstances. However, either she has a different definition of "cool mom" than I do, or she hasn't seen the pics of a stranger sucking Courtney's tit. Maybe by "cool mom" she means "f@cked up, drug-addicted attention whore with no talent". In which case I agree with her after all.

Why would I-D magazine interview little Frances? Are they trying to entrap Courtney?
I think Frances is giving a response she's used every time the Department of Children and Family Services comes to visit her.

...Making fun of Courtney=fun. But I agree, FB has been through way more than her share, we should lay off.

I'm sure she's a great mom.
Not a great person.
But a great mom.

Frances will sure have an uphill battle for the rest of her life, defending her mom.

Addict's kids tend to take on the protector role....it's all screwed up ...the parent should be protecting and defending the kid, not the other way around. Shame.

I am not sure how she keeps making the press. Isn't Winona Ryder out there somewhere?

She looks just like her pop. Fuckin' shame man. Then again if I was married to that slosh hole I'd kill myself too.

What a sweet child! She's so cute; she actually managed to get some good looks from both parents! She does kinda look like the Olsens, but way cuter. Ugh, I thought those two were the ugliest little trolls on full house.
I'm sure her view of what a 'cool parent' is is way different from middle America's. We think of a cool parent as allowing us to wear trendy clothes, hair like we want, listen to good music, drive a hip car, things like that. I imagine she thinks differently. I can't really imagine what she thinks, but probably not what we do... Plus, there's the whole thing about what else is she supposed to say? That her mom is cracked out and fucked up all the time? Doesn't pay attention to her? Whatever goes on in that house... Imagine the retribution for any comment she makes that puts Courtney in a less-flattering light than she already puts herself in.

OK, did everyone forget that Courtney found her baby's father with his fucking brains blown out all over the house in Tacoma? Can you imagine the emotional trauma of finding that shit? Not only that but then have an ENTIRE industry weeping and crying and even BLAMING YOU for it? The loneliness of raising a child alone? Courtney Love is a fuck-up, and came from fucked-up-edness, yet managed to go on and be nominated for Golden Globes and Oscars and shit..that means nothing? She's an addict, always has been, always will be. People have a problem with it but her kid is dealing with it; whose fucking business is it then? There's LOTS of other people who have to take care of their fucked up parents; Michael Jackson used to, LiLo takes care of her crazy ass parents, that's life man!

FB seems like she has a good head on her shoulders. I hope she doesn't become like her mom, and that isn't meant to be an insult. I honestly hope she has more in mind for her future (not the rock star part, but I mean drugs, etc.)

The "Courtney as victim" crap is hilarious SoCalGal. Do you do Leona Helmsley, too?
It's good FB is relatively protected from teh harsh truth abouther mom and dad, but when she grows up and looks at the hard evidence... mommy dearest isn't going to look so "cool" anymore.

Poor little Frances. Talking to the press doesn't make her fair game. She's still a minor. That means everybody should lay off regardless of what she does. Her age should set limits on ADULTS. We're supposed to know better. She's allowed to make mistakes. (Other kids can trash her as much as they want, however.) Also, I think she was talking to the press to try to defend her insane mom. I do think it's important to remember that Courtney Love is an Academy Award-nominated actress. She's quite talented, but as her fellow talented addict Whitney Houston says, "Crack is wack." Frances seems normal because she has been raised by normal people: her nannies.

Whatever. Hole was brilliant at one time, her mother still has one of the best rock screamo voices ever and her father had more genius and creativity in his litte finger than all of the so called artists on this site put together. If this kid even realizes half of the talent she has inherited she will be just fine. I seriouslu doubt in the long run she will resent being the offspring of these two people. Hopefully we won't be seeing her or her mom around the SuperF for a while.

frances looks nothing like mko! she looks exactly like her father :) she's so cute too!

SoCalGal420: Courtney was a sloppy crazy ho before Kurt killed himself. And it wasn't Courtney that found him, it was a maintance man. She isnt raising a child alone, If you READ the article, Frances is being raised by nannys and personal drivers. Always has been. Know what you're talking about next time.
She's adorable, looks like her dad. I hope she escapes childhood with some shred of normalcy and sanity.

Poor kid. She'll appreciate those nannies one day.

You know, being interviewed by I-D when you're 13 is really got to do something to your head.
She'll probably end up living on a commune with Madonna and Micahael Jackson's kids and they'll all work together on Chelsea Clinton's senate campaign.

It's a trip seeing her now that she's all grown up. It's like she's a member of the family that I haven't seen in a long time. She's a doll.

As a name, I really like "Bean" better than "Apple". Gwyneth totally bited off Courtney...ha ha, I'm killing myself with the food references here.
