Probably because she was spotted yesterday on the surprisingly way-out-in-the-open set of The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. released the first official image of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman/Selina Kyle this morning which means we’re only hours away from looking at her prance around Pittsburgh in broad daylight. [Update: Like clockwork.] But let’s focus on the image because, while lacking any semblance of cattery whatsoever, it really lets you know the stakes are much higher for Batman this time around. In The Dark Knight, he was forced to violate moral boundaries by eavesdropping on all of Gotham to stop to The Joker. Now, he’s pushed so far to the limits, there’s no choice but to put a woman behind the wheel and aim her at crime, so you know shit got real. I’ll be amazed if the step before this wasn’t Batman just throwing grenades out the window and hoping he hit a bad guy.
ALFRED: Mastah Bruce, do you think this is woise?

I’m excited for the damn movie. I trust Nolan knows what he is doing. If it was someone else then i would be worried. I remember when the Dark Knight press photos first came out and I saw Batman staring down the Joker in a ball room full of rich people, and I thought “Oh this is going to just look stupid”. I was wrong, dead wrong. That movie ravaged the box office like an inmate on the ass of a Rap celebrity in prison.
