I Guess We Have To Talk About This Amy Schumer Thing
In David Cross’ latest comedy special Making America Great Again!, a woman gets up and leaves after he goes off about Sandy Hook – or religion, possibly both – and he has a little aside about how it always amazes him when people are baffled by the things he says during his shows when years of his material are freely available online, so it really shouldn’t be a total surprise where he stands on issues. Although, in fairness, he suggests maybe people see his face and go, “I didn’t know Tobias does stand-up! Let’s roll the dice.” Anyway, my point is that anyone who’s even remotely familiar with Amy Schumer should not have been shocked at all that she had a goddamn field day with “grab them by the pussy” after Donald Trump dropped it into the comedy world’s lap presumably while his tiny hands moved for the vagina parts like a bitch. Instead, 200 people at her show in Tampa last night (I don’t why I’m bothering to say more.) walked out after she launched into Trump. The Tampa Bay Times reports:
“I don’t want to hear that. We wanted to have a good night without distractions with the politics,” said Bryon Infinger.
“It’s a bit much,” echoed his wife, Chrissy Infinger.
They both said everybody has a right to their opinion but thought Schumer went on too long.
“The show became political. I definitely didn’t come to hear this,” said Ryan Atwood.
“Why would Amy Schumer think I paid good money to hear Amy Schumer talk about gun control and rape like Amy Schumer always talks about? No, sir. It’s like you can’t even leave the house no more without some politically active comedian making things all political at their political comedy show. Just wait until I get home and tweet about this. Honey, grab your pussy and let’s go.”
