If there’s one good thing the Academy Awards has brought us this year, it’s the end of the stupid gay cowboy jokes. It was probably amusing for the first three or four days after the movie was pitched, but it got pretty old after 10 gajillion “Broken Back” Mountain puns and other lame jokes. I get it. Gay cowboys are funny. They’re cowboys. And they’re gay. And that’s funny. Now let’s never bring it up again ever for the rest of our lives.

I’m surpised they left out clips of Clint Eastwood’s “Paint Your Wagon With Semen” and John Wayne’s epic “Oh Bukkake!”

Now that Brokeback Mountain tanked at the Oscars I would like to see an end to the seemingly endless parodies floating on the Internet.

speaking of gay themes, did anyone else notice that jon stewart seemed pretty damn enamored of george clooney?

“Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys”
That’s straight from the mouth of Willie Nelson.

AHHH Cowboys are so homo-erotic! They should have made a gay cowboy flick sooner than now, come now!

#4 – I think the parodies are part of the reason it didn’t win. It’s kind of hard to name a movie that gets mocked *that* intensely “Best Picture”.
Brokeback always struck me as being very similar to some of those Holocaust movies (Jakob the Liar) and/or slavery movies (Beloved) that are just so over the top they should openly be called “Just Give Me The Damn Oscar”. While the subject matter might be fertile Oscar territory, unless it is really well done, those sorts of movies are just too naked a grab for the statue.

10 – I totally agree with you, lol. That movie was trying waaaaay to hard…get it hard. Get it?
Uhem.
TheLusciousDeluxe | March 6, 2006 at 9:30 pm
Um, that should be “too hard”.
