The official Oscar Nominations have been released and they’ve knocked me off my feet. What kind of world do we live in where Jamie Foxx can be nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor both at the same time? Can you imagine if he ended up winning both? That would be the most ridiculous thing in the world. The man came from “In Living Color” for crap’s sake. People who come from “In Living Color” don’t go on to get nominated for two Academy Awards at the same time. They go on to star in Police Academy 7 or something.

*Update: Let me clarify that I’m not saying Jamie Foxx doesn’t deserve his nominations (I haven’t seen either film so I wouldn’t be able to judge anyways), I’m just saying how amazing it is that an actor with roots in sketch comedy has gone on to be nominated for two Academy Awards at the same time. It’s not like you’ll one day see Will Ferrel standing on the podium after his heart-moving portrayal of George W. Bush.
